As a full blooded Cherokee, I'd like to think I am just as American as anyone or more so. I have however noticed that whites will often say to someone of another race: "go back to Africa, or mexico, or wherever" and I can't help but wonder how they can think that way. All races and colors helped to make the US what it is and I don't understand this "It's really our world and country and we're just letting you live in it." type thinking I see from many but not all whites. They always refer to "tolerating" something. Whether it be Black names or a culture different from theirs, I always hear the word tolerate. The real word should be APPRECIATE.

Isn't it ridiculous? It's because the United States was settled by white people, who considered themselves the first Americans and, later, the first natives. The idea has been perpetuated until the mid to late 20th century through laws that treated coloured people -- blacks, Asians, Eastern Europeans, Jews etc. -- as second-class citizens, restricting the rights and liberties guaranteed to and originally constructed for whites. Coloured people have had to battle societal as well as legal obstacles to enjoy white privileges. They for so long were deemed foreign because they often brought their own traditions of bits of culture with them.

Next time a white person tells someone to go back to Africa or back to Mexico, feel free to tell him or her to go back to England or back to Germany. A second-generation person -- someone who was born here but whose parents were born overseas -- is as American as the descendants of the Mayflower.

I am really getting fed-up with this bull. I am white...and a mix of all different people who came here. I was NEVER taught this hate...never believed this hate...never thought this way. EVER!

Get off it. Keep the HATE alive or move on. Pick one. This crap can go on forever. Only takes a few to keep the hate alive when even the majority stopped. The ball is in your court now........I don't know what a white person can do or say to make it stop anymore......you aren't giving one example of something legit that has happened recently....you guys have to dig back to slave days and ancient history to have any teeth or validity to your argument. There aren't Slaves...we don't hang people, you are going to school in the same darn schools...working in the same places...living in the same neighborhoods...getting the same chances as the rest of us. It's NOT the KKK killing your kids working at their homework at their own kitchen tables.....it's your OWN people doing it. I mean seriously......wake up to your own responsibility.....

Heck ya.....lets take that word appreciate here. We have countries where the MAJORITY of people are of another race. Right now....I'd feel pretty darn lucky being an African American citizen today.....coz in Africa right now....with your own people....you would be experiencing rape and torture from your own people that would make slavery look like a walk through Disney.

Yes we hear the word "tolerate".....it means putting up with things we don't agree with. I personally find it totally offensive that Black men refer to their own women as slut's and ho's an the n word. THEY say it's part of your culture. They can say it.....I can't. If it's REALLY wrong and INTOLERABLE....then it's wrong for them too.

Make up your mind...if it's offensive....it is offensive.....for ANYONE....not just for certain people.

Never in my entire life have I ever seen America being built by one race of people. EVER. What made America great was blending it all. Name another country that has done as well. I will....Canada and Australia and they are screaming as well for being TOO white.

I was told look at what works and emulate that. If gangs worked then the middle east would have been in power......if race worked then we'd be equal......if who has the biggest club wins...we would....who has the tallest men....most fertile women...most money....biggest amount of people....youngest population...oldest....healthiest...most land mass.....name it.....just quit changing the rules of the game......or being such fools as to think during this wave of changes....you are "better".

That is true. If,someone is born in American, they are considered an American. Doesn't matter what race holds the most jobs or class staus. Rich or poor, black or orange. Born here in the United States makes a person automatically a citizen, aka an American. :)

Who lived in America before the Natives? Now that's the real question. I mean you have to ask yourself this, because the earth has been here for millions of years maybe billions.

Anyone who's born here is a natural born American.

I know some black kids at my school who hate Mexicans. It's not only white people.
Why does everyone think that every white American is ignorant, stupid, and greedy? Isn't that just as prejudice as saying that "black people are lazy" or "Mexicans are stupid" ect., ect.? I love to learn about other cultures. That's why I joined Multi-Cultural club at my school.

This must be fake in the journey that your speaking with regard to the human beings who're somewhat seen white right here. i've got seen obtrusive mixes mark themselves as white. each so often even gentle Hispanics are marked white. possibly that's why its so intense? maximum folk stick interior their very own race, although. i can hint each ancestor (fourth/5th great grandparents on one area) migrating right here from Germany and France. Our community is made out of lots of an identical, and we tend to adhere at the same time and marry at the same time. on an identical time as many everybody is eu mutts we've not crossed into non white races. I even have seen blended little ones further and extra, yet absolutely everyone with kinfolk satisfaction will instruct their little ones to maintain it interior their very own race. And any white i've got general that has had DNA tests have not had black ancestors. One had a splash close by American blood, tremendously lots already bred out of him. possibly the integration differs by way of area? My area is ninety 5%+ white, as replaced into the area my kinfolk settled in after immigrating right here. i think of it is humorous which you do not have faith that White human beings can no longer combination with close by human beings. C'mon now! even whilst whites kill the **** out of them they nevertheless can no longer get as much as our blonde hair and blue eyes. truly i think of there would be greater close by/whites mixes than black/white mixes. As blacks are lots greater hated everywhere and Natives are greater tolerable to 3.

That statement is usually aimed at those who would rather complain about America, then to attempt to fit in and stand as a country, this is not just whites who state it but there are those of many ethnic backgrounds who make this statement. In other words if you don't like it here, go somewhere else. If a person wants to be a part of this country, then it should be first in their lives, not some other country. If a person is here and wants to carry a loyalty to another country, then why are they here? Frankly, I was born an American, my parents were born American, but my Grand parents came here from the Netherlands, but they wanted to be here, and made this their home country, they did not speak about how great things were before they came here, nor did they want things as they were in their native country. They wanted to be Americans first. They did not carry any flag other than the red, white, and blue, and did not pledge allegiance to any country other than the USA. They fought for one country, They did not expect to live here and speak their native language. They knew if they wished to be in the Netherlands, they would have stayed there, and once here, this was their home. It is one thing to appreciate ones differences, another to expect everyone to conform to you rather than you attempting to fit-in in your new home.

Wow, what can I say that you have not already expressed rather eloquently? Tolerate is not a word I'm crazy about either, but some people need to learn tolerance before they can move on toward acceptance and APPRECIATION.
'Course some never do. I really like your use of appreciation - it goes beyond acceptance! Thanks for sharing your thoughts -Zee

I wouldn't say ALL WHITE PPL feel that way but I remember in my high school history class we were talking about nationalities and ppl coming to America from different countries. Out of nowhere this white girl says "if you're not white AND don't speak English u don't need to be in this country...this country was made for ppl like that.." and our teacher who was Cuban asked her "so u don't think I need to be in this country even though I was born here?" and she started to "stumble" over her words by saying "I didn't mean that...um I meant to say if u don't have lighter skin...no wait I mean...um..." ...it was so sad. She just made herself out to be an @$$ and a racist pig
BUT NOT ALL WHITE PPL ARE LIKE THAT SOME DO FEEL THAT WAY BUT NOT ALL OF THEM

Boo-u are in for a rude awakening
