Read all previous replys. Sounds more like a TUNE related issue, not just the oil itself. (dirty oil will hinder performance a bit tho, but just not like as explained here)
When this issue is resolved, do not use cheap oil, such only allows engine parts to wear out faster. Choose a synthetic, ALL of them are better than other regular stuff, I like Amsoil best.

Thats a lie that mechanic told you to get your business no oil change place uses recycled oil and if sludge is in your engine it was not from the oil it was there before you had your oil changed. sludge doesnt develop over night or a few months your car is a 2000 so it could have been in there for years. I dont know much about VW's but the acceleration problem isnt from the sludge in your motor and oil is oil it really doesnt matter which one you use as long as it is rated for automobile use

I even have examine a number of of cloth on the difficulty of oils and oil substitute practices. For effortless engines, different than extreme overall performance, guy made oils do no longer grant sufficient income to justify their further fee. the suited direction of action is to examine the vendors handbook, and use the cautioned viscosity, and alter on the era cautioned for extra severe situations than you certainly stress. oftentimes this skill you will possibly use 5W30 oil in a well-known vehicle engine and alter it approximately each and every 5,000 miles with any SAE rated oil from a particularly properly familiar producer. As your engine gets older, over 70,000 miles, in case you spot that's employing sufficient oil between variations to require including oil, go as much as a miles better viscosity like a 10w30. do no longer difficulty approximately all the advertising and marketing noise in case you have favourite employing conduct and stay interior the decrease 40 8 states.

I havent read the other answers but get real, you have engine issues and you are trying to blame it on an oil change place, I mean come on, get real. Maybe if you changed it more than every 8 thousand miles you wouldn't be in this situation, it's called lack of taking care of your car and wanting to blame someone not responsible for YOUR neglect.

Sludge is from certain oil brands. And dose not hurt any thing! Just a bigger mess to clean up.
And your problem is spark plugs and wires and throttle sencer.
Used oil goes into a ferniest To heat the shop. It's not recycled into anything.

Sludge? did he show you?? If you think they use used oil the get a sample of yours and send it in for analysis. If they are putting in used oil that would be a crime.

Thats is a bunch of BS that guy gave you!
Next time take it to a VW ONLY mechanic if you dont take it to a VW dealer.
A VW only mechanic knows you car in and out because that is what he works on day in and day out, he`s seen it ALL before.
Find another mechanic.
Shoulda bought a TDi also they get 50mpg!

They may use cheaper oil, I don't know.
The real trouble with those places is that they
suction the oil out from the top, they don't drain it
from the bottom.
That lets the sludge in the bottom of the oil pan
stay in the engine and build up.
