Psychiatrists have classified me as one. But its not my choice and I have to exercise complete and total control over myself every waking hour to be even remotely acceptable to society and i still manage to mess that up by becoming extremely violent with some moron who pissed me off and then become totally calm again, or when i see some woman crying for her lost child, i laugh and could care less...she should have had her eyes on the child....

its not by choice that i am like this, but i have been ever since i can remember...the thing is, i control myself...so why is it when people find out what i am, they act like i have some deadly contagious disease like sars or the bird flu? not only that but they start avoiding eye contact....that actually makes it worse and harder to control

Most people find that not having a consciounce is a very bad thing, and they cannot imagine not having the ability to sympathize or feel shame. When people "know what you are", they fear you because you have the possibility to do things that they would never even think of doing, and you would do them without blinking an eye. Sorry but you lack a basic human quality and yes, there is nothing you can do about it.

It's not bad or good. It is what it is. That's like saying that diabetes or heart disease are "bad". Like any kind of medical condition, it would be wise to seek treatment, assuming that treatment would be effective. There are meds for impulse control issues, as well as behavioral therapy. I can definitely see where an individual would be a bit wary of someone with a psychotic/borderline personality disorder, especially if it's untreated. You said yourself that you experience extreme violence and a lack of empathy. Would I be uncomfortable with that? Absolutely. It's not fair, but it's human nature. My ex got the same diagnosis, and I was definitely on the receiving end of his psychopathology. I worked with adult populations with disabilities for years, and I have seen the whole gamut of neurological disorders. I have been thrown through a window, bitten, assaulted, etc, etc.

But do I judge you? Absolutely not. It is what it is. Keep a lid on the impulse control issues and you will definitely be acceptable to society. Take the meds if it will settle you down. Keep looking for ways to alleviate the symptoms of your medical condition.

I've been thinking about this a lot, too. I guess it's because when people hear the word 'psychopath', they think of serial killers, etc. You could try using the term 'sociopath' instead. I'm pretty sure that it means the same thing, but the word doesn't have the same stigma attached to it.

I think it's very impressive that you're working so hard to control it!

Could you answer a question for me? Psychopathy is something I'm really interested in right now. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071103210052AAdRwoU&pa=FYd1D2bwHTHwLb5nEOIzRIwMPgskbA8VzME8I.r2ctNXzA--&paid=asked&msgr_status=

I feel like people fear what they don't understand firstly, and secondly your diagnosis/actions make you a difficult person to relate to. I have BPD and control it and am a very sensitive person and it is rare for a more childish and hurtful part of me to rear its head. I control who I am what I do and how I act. However, to not care about and for others would be unimaginable to me, I am a softie. I think, if I were you, I would definitely get more than One opinion and open up to the person trying to see inside of you, if you don't you only hamper the diagnostic process, my feeling is you are very young, angry and have other problems that no one has been told about. Now this is just my feeling, but am I close?

It's a bad thing because as a psychopath, you'll callously damage the environment, kill and hurt people and cause people miseries, the innocents will report that to the police.

suicide,, most people try to stop a complete stranger from comiting the act , compation ,is the reason .
A psychopath has none, their moto is die if you want too. Thats why most people don't care to associate with them . we All have dark moments , and who needs a friend who just can't be bothered with my problems ,
one of a psychopaths truest pathologies is to only concern themselves with themselves , so thats probably why

You will find out that people are stupid. They will blame you for your parents' genes. Reproduction is a gamble; you never know what you'll get. And people who reproduce gamble with the lives of their offspring by reproducing with whoever seems nice enough, cute enough, etc., on the outside. But the offspring pay the price for it and humanity, in its infinite wisdom, assign "free will" to behaviors they disagree with, only to punish you for your heredity later.
