if my last name is Hunt, can I name a son Henry or a daughter Hannah?

I love both these names... but is it too much?

Helen Hunt. I think it's fine. Some H names will sound bad with your last name, and others won't. Just ask yourself "Would I mind if this was my name?"

I think First and Last names starting with the same letter sound like celebrity names a lot of the time...

I'm in the same boat. My fiance's last name starts with a B, and the girl's name we're in love with also starts with a B.

I think it can be kind of cute. Hanna Hunt, Henry Hunt. They just flow well together. Just make sure to pick a middle name that starts with a letter other than H and I think you'll be fine.

Henry Hunt sounds ok... but for some reason Hannah Hunt doesn't...

some same letter first and last names are ok.. others just aren't.. my daughter is M.M and it flows nicely...

whatever you do.. don't call ur son Michael (Mike)

Hayden Hunt and Hillary Hunt also sound ok

I wouldn't personally advise it, having grown up with an alliterative name myself (couldn't wait to legally change it after my wedding, which is quite sad since I'm proud of my family name in general LOL). Still, it would have to be on a case-by-case basis, because not all would be as comical or problematic as I found my own to be.

Henry Hunt, for example, isn't terrible. I wouldn't likely use it with that surname -- though I adore Henry, to be clear -- but I wouldn't find it odd if someone else did either. Hannah Hunt doesn't work quite as well for me. Just a bit too breathy and a touch comical, though I can't quite put my finger on it. Perhaps the open-endedness is adding to the way the similar elements sound in full? In any case, I'd either use a non-H form -- Anna is basically the same name, after all, or you might opt for similar, but non-H, Johanna -- or look for an alternative that would help break up the Hs a bit. A double name, such as Hannah Jane, or longer combination version, like Hannelore, for instance.

Along those same lines, you might simply move the beloved H names to the middle, where they're not nearly as problematic. That way they'd only be used with the first name or first and last name in full, but not with the surname alone. Felicity Hannah Hunt, for instance, doesn't sound bad, and she'd most likely be called by her full name, Felicity Hunt or Felicity Hannah, but not simply Hannah Hunt. ;)

So while you certainly can use an H name with an H surname, I'd only do so if it was simply *the* name for me, and none of the alternatives seemed as appealing. ;) Good luck, by the way!

I think that would be very Cute I love both of the names especially Henry!! I don't think it is too much as long as for the middle name you don't do something over powering do something sweet simple and orginal! Good Luck!!!

My baby girl will have the same first and last initial. Its not too much at all. Very nice names and they both sound good with Hunt. Congrats!

In my opinion it's not that big of a deal.
Henry and Hannah are adorable names that will still be classy when your child turns into an adult.

(:

Nothing wrong with it. My first and middle start with the same letter. It's kinda fun.
