I would be in favor of dissolving a powerful central government that has the power to put the states into a war against their will....think about it, if all the states had to supply troops if the majority of states approved a war...isn't that better than to have a central government more powerful than the states that make it up in total. but then I'm just some Democrat with 2 jobs and a kid living in the middle of a cornfield putting plastic on his windows and wondering how high the heat bills will be this winter.
50 countries or just one, I'm still living in a corn field in one of them

Rather than breaking the country up, I would favor updating the Constitution to address recent federal usurpations (mainly based on court rulings) and return the country to what the founders intended that it should be: "a confederated republic", or a "republic of republics", as they put it. Under that system, the federal government would handle only those matters that deal with interstate and foreign relations. The states would handle everything else internally.

Imagine: instead of fighting over issues like abortion and gay marriage in Congress, and trying to impose one system on the entire country, we could allow states to do their own thing, as determined by the will of their people.

This is basically what Ron Paul wants to do if he is elected president, and that's a major reason why I'm supporting him.

As it stands, I'm afraid that the country will start breaking up soon. We're simply too different from one another to live under one system indefinitely, and too stubborn to give much ground, even when it's in our own interest.

Are you in one of those secession groups? That thinks the U.S. needs to break apart, into multiple nations? Bad idea. Many nations, along with the world economy would suffer.
