You will hear pros and cons to this question, everybody has a different opinion.

I leave mine on 24/7.

I turn it off every once in awhile to clean dust from around the fan area and the keyboard. And it gets shut down when I need to reboot, or when installing program updates, or to create restore points, or during electrical storms.

I look at a computer like a light switch, if you turn it on and off all the time, it'll wear out faster than if you just left it on. And the amount of power saved by turning it off every night would not be noticable on your electric bill.

It does not make too much difference. If you leave it on all the time some people like to have their hard drives and monitor shut off after an hour or two automatically. But it's not necessary. Ive been around many computers that have not been shut down for a year or so. But if you check your electric bill and compare it on a yearly basis this causes most people to shut down their computers.

I like to keep mine on when I use it but I haven't always . I once used to keep it on and it over heated the heat sink fell off the computer chip and it shorted out the entire gizmo .
I realize some set it to go to saving modes where the moving parts are at rest and argue that the process of turning on and off agian is not good for and require time to warm up but those days are gone so either way is probably fine .

Leaving a computer on 24 hrs+ is just fine. But turning it off after 2 days striaght is not a bad idea. Computer might not be stable after 24/7 useage at load.

computer shudnt b a problem but do turn it off after a few days if ur cooling system isnt so good it cud overheat. put ur computer on sleep wen u not using coz it wont damage it as much.

for laptop dont leave on more than 2 days straight if u dont have good specs or cooling system coz it will start burning inside after a while.

I keep mine running all the time...but then I have to clean out the fur balls and stuff...sometimes I even have to replace a fan or two...but it doesn't take much electricity and it keeps running smoothly when it is kept on.....remember to turn it off if there is a storm, in case of outages.

I prefer to use the hibernate/standby feature. It doesn't take very long to start back up and it does save some electricity.

If you're gonna leave it on turn off the screen to save w/e we can...><

It depends on how much you use it. If you use the computer every day and you work sporadically, you may want to keep it on and reboot daily.

Otherwise, turn it off when you go to bed except for when you run your maintenance (defrag, antivirus scans, etc)

It depends on how much you care about your electric bill.

Personally, I keep mine on all the time. I shut it down for one hour once a week, so it'll clear out the system cache and the RAM.

Keeping your computer on all the time won't harm it, but you should shut it down every once in awhile to let it clear itself out.
