Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer.
Different models will have the engine number in different locations.
Why do you want the engine number?
The bike is identified by the frame number.
Look on the top of the crankcase behind the cylinder, or on the side of the crankcase.
Or contact Yamaha and ask them -

A 50cc scooter does not have a chain!

The engine number location varies by model

If it is the original engine, you just need the VIN, that is located on a plate under a plastic cover at the center of the leg shield.

go to the left side of the bike. Get down next to the engine, you'll see the drive chain. Look at where the drive chain goes into the engine.

The engine number will be either on the flat horizontal surface above the chain, or underneath on a vertical surface where the chain attaches - you may have to basically stand on your head to see it.

Hope this helps!
