I love all different types but my favorite is alternative or rock because I rarely dislike a song I hear from those genres. Some Relatively Current Favorites Are:

Something along the lines of Progressive, Death, Trash, Shred Metal. My taste in music It's pretty diverse so i don't really have a specific one, i even listen to classical, blues and flamenco music, and some prog rock. The reason why i like those, well i feel many of the bands/musicians on this genres of music can really communicate their music to me and somehow i can just feel myself as part of the music, whether it's very aggressive or very melodic and passive; it really gives me this sort of feeling of harmony between the music and myself. Besides, i also tend to appreciate artistic talent and these particular genres happen to have many talented musicians playing that type of music. And as far as current favorite songs, there are many to mention but i guess some would be:

Credence - Opeh
This Godless Endeavor - Nevermore
Flying Whales - Gojira
War - Joe Satriani
...i don't know, too many to mention.

Danny Elfman's my favorite composer/songwriter. He's created soundtracks for a bunch of movies, like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlotte's Web, Spiderman 1,2, and 3, Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman Begins, Batman Returns, Corpse Bride, Mission Impossible (a tune everyone should be familiar with!), Edward Scissorhands, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and a lot more. He has a whimsical way about his music. It's very...mystical, I guess you could say.

basically i'm universal listener. like most types of music.
but i think i'm much into all american reject's type of music. not only that, i love seeing girl play guitar and sing like Michele branch, avril lavigne and YUI (japanese singer)
