We gain an hour. Got lucky. Been on Mountain time this past week so was worried I would get used to it which I did just before coming home to the East coast. So I get one of those hours back.

They did it so that people would be more productive in daylight hours - AND to keep kids from watiing for the morning school bus in the dark. Check Wikipedia for the legal reasoning for starting this back in the 1960's.

In the Fall season we turn clocks one hour back, so that we gain one hour in the day.
In Spring season we turn clocks one hour ahead so that we lose one hour in the day.
A common saying used to help people remember is "Fall Back and Spring Forward"

Neither.
You're gonna sleep about the same amount as you did last night.
But it IS gonna be an hour earlier when you wake up...

The clocks go back.
Therefore, you get to 'redo' an hour...meaning you get an hour more sleep.

I believe we don't lose or gain any amount of sleep. The amount of time is still the same, but the numbers has changed only.

Going back... you add an hour. In the spring, you go forward, and you give the hour back.
