No, there was a man in the Bible named Solomon. He was rich and he said he had tried it all, and nothing satisfied. Look at all these rich actors and actresses. They switch from drugs, drinking, spouses, like normal people switch bedsheets, and they are never happy. They all want more more more. I heard a millionaire once who said that the only thing he wanted was another dollar.
I am very happy. I pay the bills, save a dollar or two, love my family and wouldn't trade my life with anyone.

Hi Third P.
No, money cannot complete gratify us. However, thoe who say the old cliché "money cannot buy happiness" obviously have not been in need of it.
Wealth can certainly give a certain amount of gratification. For example, a family can afford to send their children to better schools where they might get a better education.
As someone mentioned, money cannot cure terminal illness; this I know all too well. However, money would allow me to buy the medical necessities that I must struggle without. Money would definitely make my life easier.
Even so, many of us must make do without wealth that can make our lives easier. We can choose to live a bitter life, wishing we had that money; or we can make the most of what we do have & live a happy life.
What makes my life so good & makes me feel gratified is love. I have the love of a good husband. I have the love of many close friends. Money could not give me that kind of gratification.
So, even though wealth can make our lives easier, it cannot completely gratify us. Love is what will gratify us, whether or not we have wealth.
Peace.

The will, as to get what one desires, can't be completely gratified by simply achieving wealth. On the contrary, I've often seen people who are "obscenely" wealthy always grasping for more. Money ceases to have any meaning for them, only the acquisition of it. An extreme example is a client I had, who was a billionaire, ate dog food, & feloniously cheated her family of all inheritances, (among other things)! (You mean financial wealth?)
An offshoot of this is the popular "Money can't buy happiness." This is true to a certain extent--as money can't save the terminally ill--but it can certainly get them better care. Money can't buy love, or true friends. But this is digressing, isn't it?
No, I don't believe wealth is a way to complete gratification.
Good question, my friend!
Edit: Yes, palemalefriend, for the termially ill, money would buy medications, provide a better environment to the end. Not to mention those who have no health insurance & whose lives could be saved with preventive care. "We" do the best we can, & never forget the things we value.

If we were to be gratified when we achieve material wealth all the activities of accumulating wealth must stop .But man always hankers and goes on struggling and accumulating .I mean that all the millionares have to stop if they were gratified .But it is not like that they want more, this answers your question. The real wealth is achieved when the mind becomes calm and collected without hankering for anything.

Wealth can give only material prosperity which is just the base level gratification.... in fact health is more important because our body is the greatest material asset we own and make use of.
The next level of gratification is for the mind (basically emotions)..... in this area love is the key requirement. However, even this is impermanent and liable to change or extinction over a period of time because both the subject and object of this love are themselves impermanent.
Complete gratification can happen only when we satisfy our spiritual needs...... these relate to comprehensive compassion and equanimity... until and unless we can achieve this third supreme stage of gratification, we would continue to long for fulfilling another new will every time any one will is fulfilled....... the unending stream of longings can only be checked through spiritual emancipation and that is what is the ultimate gratification after which nothing else remains to be gratified.
(By the way, by spiritual I neither mean relating to God nor religion.... I just mean that part of us which governs, directs and colors our mind through higher level 'inclinations'.... we may loosely refer to this self of ours as soul, so long as it is not confused with any ghostly entities... it is just a metaphysical aspect of our entity which can be graded upwards as physical, mental and spiritual.)

everyone wants to have wealth because it would be a lesser burden and any material object you want you may acquire. Not to sound like what other people say but love wont buy you love.
I love my twin sister soo much and i would never trade her for any amount of money, because my life would not be complete with out her.
People need to get their priorities straight.
Money is important but you need more substance in your life to be truly happy.
Read Question wrong: but i dont think that your will dimishes because not everybody is living day to day hoping to make money, they keep on living and trying to find something meaningful to wake up to everyday.

Health & Wealth ;- There are 2 ways. 1. Material . Divine. For ill-health we go to doctor.BUT A TIME COMES NO HUMAN AID CAN HELP. From this limited WILL we turn to the UNLIMITED WILL.The same way is our financial needs. We have done our best, still inadequate, we turn to the other Super-will.

Relief from the Judgment and threat of anxiety frees the Will. The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative. There is no perfection nor complete and final gratification. If you have it you are dead (final).

Certainly! When you have the means (wealth), everything is possible...and gratification is the end result of achieving it.
