There are laws regarding human comfort. In cases in which the environment threatens human life, energy or water cannot be legally turned off. Even in cases of failure to pay, you cannot be frozen out of your residence. Talk with your land-lord. You should have heat if it's getting cold. If he does not comply, then talk with an attorney. You might be better off in another residence. Get help. Don't be mean, but get help.

You should already have the heat turned on!!! Your landlord should not control your heat. YOU should. Go to your local human services or housing authority and talk to them!!! It's not safe at all for you to be heating your home with your oven.

The heat is included in your rent, correct?

You would have to check your local building/housing codes to see if there are requirements for heat.

Your city or town and state would be helpful.

why does he have heating controls when you rent? you should and do have rights to being in a comfortable and safe environment. its your right to have heating available to you and your family not when he suits.
Purchase a small room heater for your electrical outlet to heat the room up when you want and it will do the job and iwould not rely on him when heat is on.
does this help?

Why don't you turn on your heater? If you can't then ask your landlord to do so. I can't believe your landlord controls the temperature in your home.
