You threw them out of the house once, they came back in, so you had to remove them a second time.

Your mom and aunt are sisters. If your mom and your aunt both had a child those children would be your first cousins. If you had a child your child and your cousin{aunts daughter}would be first cousins once removed. Same thing if your cousin had a child your cousin's child would be first cousins, once removed. Your child and your cousin's child would be second cousins. If you had a child ,that child {your grandchild} and your first cousins child would be second cousin's once removed. Your grandchild and your cousin's grandchild would be third cousins.
this probably isn't making much sense. Think of the first or second or third part as meaning what generation the cousins are from. If one cousin is from another generation, and another cousin is from another generation then they are removed from each other. Once or twice {etc} removed just refers to how many generations separate them. I bet this is confusing!

It skill they're the direct descendents of your third cousin, 2 generations later, i.e. a grandchild. My third cousin and that i've got a similar greatgreatgrandmother. Her grandkids would be my third cousins, two times bumped off (whilst she gets them!).

Removed means the relationship skips generations, the number is the number of generations skipped. First cousins, twice removed, have great-grandparents that are siblings. That's two generations that are skipped, parents and grandparents.

Strictly speaking, the children of your first cousin are your first cousins once removed. (Your first cousin's grandchildren, should it come to that, are your first cousins twice removed. If you have children, your children and your cousin's children are second cousins.)
