the states with people with the top 16 average iq's voted for kerry in '04. all of their iq's were at least 99 (just under the average of 100) and connecticut and massachusetts are at the top of the lists-they are like the most liberal states ever. Is this not proof that dems are smarter than republicans. and while a high iq doesn't necessarily make you better at politics, there is a general correlation.

westhill-learn to read, the LOWEST (i hope that's clear enough for you now) liberal state had an average iq of 99. not to mention that if they are the TOP 16 it would be impossible for republicans to be higher. the republican iq's range from 85-100 (so their HIGHEST is only average if that obvious fact hadn't crossed your mind) and the dems range from 99-113. My iq is 129, but unfortanetly i come from the dumbass republican state of colorado. Luckily they are the second smartest (or should i say second least dumb) republican state w/ an average iq of 99.

considering they don't believe in global warming, voted Bush twice, think invading countries creates peace and going into debt doesn't mean taxes in the future...you may be right.

lol.
The vote was nearly 50-50 in 2004. If Democrats, at nearly 50% of the population, had an average IQ of 99, and 100 is defined as the average IQ, then Republicans, the other half of the population, had an average IQ of 101, which, statistically speaking, is also average.
Therefore there is no correlation and intelligence has no relationship to voting because both groups score in the range of average intelligence.
One thing the parties should remember though is that you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

I doubt if the distribution of IQ could be clumped by states. The 'wins' by the GOP were more of a matter of massive right wing propaganda against both Gore and later John Kerry by the dozens of right wing talk radio shows with their incessant character assassination than anything else. Propaganda works...that's why they do it. Considering that these folks were on Al Gore's case for the better part of a decade it's a wonder he got any votes in 2000...yet he did win the popular vote and a different Supreme Court may also have made a difference. 2004 was almost a picture perfect redux of 2000....massive ad hominum, red herring and twisted logic won the day. Joseph Goebbels would have been proud. Oddly, IQ doesn't seem to enter the picture where propaganda is concerned....plenty of 'smart' people hold views that border on cultishness. While my heart tells me that being 'smart' makes you more likely to not vote for a person who's main backers are union busting trans-national corporations, the Oil Mafia godfathers and the Jesus freaks of the 'Christian' right, my head tells me that the application of scientific propaganda can soften the hardest head and heart...I've seen it done! Listen to what these folks are saying about Sen. Clinton and Obama...they wouldn't be saying it if they didn't have proof that the nastier the propaganda, the better it works!

I can't believe that anyone who's IQ is over 100 would buy into this crap (even it was true). What's the relationship? How was the voting spread in '00? What's that mean for '08? What was the IQ of the actual voters?
Did you know that 97% of all the people that actually voted for Kerry ate ketchup within 48 hours of going to the polls? Should Democrats give everybody free ketchup?

I would assume that your are not in the portion that raised the collective IQ in either of those states. Only someone who is in the 6th percentile would make such a flawed assumption.
Did you know that the survey that claimed the highest IQ's were in Red States placed Hawaii number 6? The reality is that Hawaii is the Mississippi of the Pacific.
Edit: Your IQ is 129 in your dreams. Anyone with an IQ higher than room temperature would not come to such an idiotic conclusion based on questionable/flawed data. Your question is nothing more than prevaricative nonsense and liberal "wishful thinking."

just a reminder the smartest presidents were not always the best presidents. Example, Carter is a genueis and worst president and Reagan with average IQ one of the best. Also Clinton a real scholar and Truman without a degree.

I really don't see the correlation, but perhaps there is one.
More than voting for George Bush at the time, I voted against John "Habitual Liar" Kerry. Kerry was lying and spewing forth his anti-military rhetoric in '71 at the Congressional Hearings and he has never stopped since.

No, not so much. The democrat party courts the lowest income voters with entitlement programs. IQ has nothing to do with this.
