It's like this, a person has the right to say almost anything in private or public, but he should also know that if what he says is deemed inappropriate by others (including his employer) then they have the right to distance themselves from him, and a employer can discipline or even fire him. Some actions have consequences. In this case, his bosses are trying to produce a show where they can sell commercials to sponsors and some sponsors don't want to do business with inappropriate content. So what he says, if wrongful can cause his employer to lose money and sometimes they move to correct the situation, for example, actor Isaiah Washington was fired from the hit tv show Grey's Anatomy for making homophobic statements. Business is business.

Have never seen this show, but how can he be in trouble for something he did say in private, public figure or no?
Edit: In US, do public figures have no right to privacy? What of private citizens? If private citizen said on the phone line, "I don't like xxxxxx group", could they be in trouble with their employer etc.? Very strange it is. Orwellian.

His phone call became public property. The word privacy doesn't exist anymore. He said it making him responsible but,
what about the pathetic excuse of a son that recorded it. If a person is too much of a wimp to stand behind what he says he might as well shut up.

What choice did A&E have? I am sure they would have lost all their sponsors.
I just wonder what Dog did to make his son hate him enough to do this to him.
You can tell that parts of the tape are edited out.
I am not sticking up for Dog because I am not a fan of his. I think he is full of himself and thinks he is hot. I do like his wife Beth though. She is much nicer than him.

i don't think it's fair-but life's not fair. He said that in his own home-I think his son actually turned over the tape....i like him and his show and it's sad that you have to watch what you say even in your home. One thing that bothers me though is that black people can drop the N bomb a thousands times a day-but let a white person say it and all hell breaks loose....i think what he said has been taken out of context.

I enjoy the show and I am sad that it has been suspended but as famous as he is he should have known better. I mean look what happened to Alec Baldwin and the phone call he made to his daughter. He needs to make a public apology and let everyone know how sorry he is.

America is turning to Stalinism, where anyone can be denounced and ruined, even by family members, for uttering heretical statements in private. They deserve the hell they are headed for.....

This guy deserves whatever he has coming to him. He is a hypocrite. He has been exposed. He has already served time for being an accessory to the murder of a Black man, now it is time to let him BURN !!!
As for the charge of Blacks calling each other ni****, When dog used it he wasnt using it as a term of endearment or brotherhood. He meant it as a racist insult.
