In my view, only two people have continually produced high-quality music passed the age of 50 that being Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan. Who is the best?

There is no denying that Neil Young was one of the greatest singer song writers of the seventies, but I am not aware that he has produced the same lofty quality material into his later years. Jonny Cash’s last album sends shivers down the spine, perhaps a unique achievement, when you consider most excellent song writers sort of seem to creatively die a death after thirty/forty.
I like bands like Cold War Kids, Radio Head and anything that is quality.

Johnny Cash is my personal preference. Low voice and interesting lyrics.

No offence to Bob Dylan fans but.......even though I liked his classics a lot, his style or voice comes across as unclear, otherwise I like the sound of his tunes.

Dylan is without a doubt the best songwriter in our lifetime, closely followed by Bruce Springsteen (though I don't know how old he is). But there is of course also Neil Young. As regards your question, though, Johnny Cash probably had the better voice, though it is hard to compare the two, both produced good music and performed great concerts. It's nice to see a question from someone with a taste for proper music, though, this doesn't happen enough on here. Were you never a fan of the late, great Marty Robbins, another singer/songwriter who is also sadly not with us anymore?

B/n the two choices, Johnny Cash for his singing ability; although I like his lyrics too.
But I believe I would choose Bob Dylan for his lyrics. Bob Dylan, I'm sorry to say, seriously can't carry a tune.
I still love them both though...

Johnny Cash. But also, you should put The Eagles into that category.

I don't like either. Rick Springfield rocks at 58.
