instead of having to share it with the UK, and have to weed out all those silly McCann questions, heck even Singapore a city state that is smaller than Manhattan has it's own site.

There is a scroll bar at the right of the screen. If you use it to go to the bottom, you will see there is an American site. If that is what you are logged into, you can click on the drop box marked "show". You will have the option of "all English questions" or the extremely isolationist "American questions only".

As a Canadian, I am tired of seeing all the childish 9/11 conspiracy whackos, as well as the McCann obsessives who really need to see Dr Phil, but I won't tune out the whole world to avoid them.

I'm annoyed with all the McCann questions in current events, too. Maybe these people should have their own forum to go to, like a "McCann family" category, so we don't have to keep seeing this irrelevant chattering in "Current Events." If it was just the odd question here and there, ok, but I think it's out of hand, and this taking way too much space here. I mean, there are other things happening in the world, which have a far greater impact on us all.

I really believe they do but the USA is such a newsmaker that people from anywhere that can understand American English like to "hang out" in the USA site. Even if the UK doesn't, forming one would not change things much and one can always tune out the McCann nonsense as I'm sure they tune out the "George Bush bombed the towers" nonsense. I imagine that the election circus we have is quite entertaining to them too.

Because, even if we had our own category, we'd still treat all of Y!A as an American site. Singapore has it's own site so that Yahoo staff can talk to each other without getting up from their desks.

On the home page of yahoo answers, at the very bottom there are links to various countries. The United States is listed there.

I really enjoy the international Q's & A's. Most UK users' are witty and give good answers, but I've seen some from UK and USA that don't like to share their views with one another and sometimes it can get quite nasty. I enjoy learning about the differences in terminology and culture.

I really don't pay to much attention to that maybe because I, personally like the idea of sharing with others. I like to know opinions from people out of the U.S.
I really don't mind. Not a big deal for me.

Feeling isolationist are you? Yahoo is a global company, so in actuality you DO have the American site , but Yahoo Canada, Yahoo UK etc are also part of Yahoo whether you like it or not. Just skim through the McCann questions if you don't want to answer them. It's a big world and perhaps you'll learn that the world isn't so US centric as Americans think it is.

Thank you Michael for that tidbit of info, I had no idea that option was available. But personally, I learn a lot by not limiting my selection.
