You don't say how long she wants to be up north or if you are invited to go along. If she wants to go for indefinate period of time without you, that would be a problem. I would not see anything wrong with her going for a week or so with or without you. She was lucky to have you to take care of things when she couldn't. I'm sure you know that depression is an illness and the pills may help, but they don't always cure.
How about suggesting to her that you both get away for a nice vacation.

You can't do it all by yourself , although it sounds like you have . I took care of my wife's mom at the nursing home for 3 years until the end of her life . My wife and daughter have had lots of problems with their health , after so many DR. appointments , prescriptions , this , that , when does it stop ? I once asked GOD if he could get his foot off my throat . I am not particularly religious , but it does help to pray in times of great despair. Also to make time for yourself , even if it is an hour at the library or 9 holes of golf somewhere .

You are a wonderful man, let her go and she herself will find out how good of man you are. Maybe she is running away from her problem, but sometimes one needs to get away for a while, maybe she needs some space. Let her go, when she comes back, then you take off for a while too. You both need some time out, apart it will do you and her some good.

First, let me say you have a lot of company. Many families deal with mental illness.
Secondly, YOU need some care as well. I hope you find time for YOU. Perhaps a counselor to help you deal with pent up emotions.
Good luck.
Peace.

Wow, you have been through alot. Have you any friends or family to turn too? Do you still love this woman? It sounds like YOU are the one that needs a break. Hang in there, you will be rewarded with all your good deeds.

Pop some corn, tune in the football game, call an old friend. Get up and go to church tomorrow. Change the locks, change the phone.
Your life is about to get better.
