Nick Markakis of the Orioles. Yeah I'm going with the hometeam guy, but I also see mostly every regular season game. He does a lot of things well for a young ballplayer with only 2 years of experience at the ML level.. At the plate he is very patient, not afraid to take a walk, so he isn't prone to swinging at bad pitches. He's also had a couple of walk-off hits for the Orioles this season.

He drives the ball to all feilds pretty evenly, but also has some developing pop. I think as Markakis continues to get more experienced, his amount of extra basehits are only going to increase, as long as he forces opposing outfielders to play him straight-up instead of to the left or the right.

I think the only real drawl-back to Markakis as a hitter is that sometimes he can be a little too patient at times, and he might let a good hitter's pitch go by early in the count. That's just me as a fan soaking up some of the things the announcers and anaylists have said. I don't play the game.

However Markakis as an outfielder in right is also pretty good. He's made some nice diving plays, but I've seen where he's made strong and accurate throws to the plate, from shallow to medium right. At times he's either forced the 3rd base coach to put the stop sign on the runner, or he's gunned the runner down at the plate, no contest.

As an outfeilder Markakis may not be the quickest guy in right, but he is far from a liability, especially when it comes to his throwing arm.

Basically I think that if Nick Markakis ever realizes his potential, you are going to hear about him a lot. It may sound cliche, but he plays like a season veteran who is likely to get better with more experience.

I realize that there are other young players with a lot of potential to. Guys like JJ Putz for Seattle come to mind with lights out closer stuff, you've seen Pedroia with the Sox, Troy Tulowitzki with Colorado who has the potential to be a great SS, comparable to Cal Ripken.

I emphesis on Nick Markakis because I've seen a lot of him, as a fan I'm glad the Orioles drafted him.

This guy can hit, he can run and he is a pretty good fielder too. Not to mention, he's so good-looking :PP
Yeah Jacoby Ellsbury has a VERY promising career in baseball! He's probably Rookie of the Year 2008 :)
