I know in a lot of cultures eating bugs is considered disgusting and strange. But are bugs really good for us? Should humans eat bugs?

There is nothing wrong with eating bugs. It's just that some people find it disgusting. But eating them won't kill you! in fact, many countries include bugs in their diet. Bugs do have nutrients we humans can use. Now the chances that you will see a spider and grab it as a bite to eat....very unlikely.

Think of it like this....
Humans are no different than any other organism.
We are heterotrophs so we were born to eat other organisms. We are just more intelligent than other organisms. That is why we choose to eat somethings and choose not to eat other things. Therefore, you could say that we were meant to eat bugs, it is just that some people choose to and others decide not.

On the travel channel when they have someone go around and eat the bugs that a lot of primitive cultures have always eaten they find them enjoyable. On the discovery channel the survivor-man always adds them to his menu and cooks scorpions like the rest of use would do shish-ka-bob.

A lot of animals even ones as big as bears eat bugs. So people could thrive on them if they ever became fashionable as snacks (like chocolate-covered ants were a while ago).

I'm pretty certain they have nutritional value. I wouldn't recommend going out in your garden and eating slugs though.
