There is this college I really need to get into. But is catholic and I am not religous. Will they do a catholic test or something.

You do not have to be Catholic or pass a test. However, you will probably be required to take at least one religion course. I fulfilled my requirement by taking a "Contemporary Peacemakers" course, and others at my college took Buddhism, so at some schools you can get away without having to take a Catholic-specific course (which might put you at a disadvantage).

I would avoid schools such as Ave Maria which are *very* religiously focused if you are worried about feeling uncomfortable. But many other Catholic colleges are first and foremost institutions of higher learning, and embrace many philosophies and religions. The latter type are the majority. Administrators - even clergy - often have PhDs and are educated, open-minded people. This trickles down to the student body and school policies.

My sister has gone to catholic sixth form college, but she's non catholic. What they do is they have a preference system, here is how their works:

Grade A Preference: Catholic students from 1 of 3 catholic high schools in partnership with the college

Grade B Preference: Catholic students from any catholic high school

Grade C Preference: Catholic students from a non catholic high school

Grade D Preference: Non catholic students


I know non catholics are the 4th on the list but most of the student body is made up of non catholics, so it isn't that hard to get in if you're a non catholic, all you need then is the grades to get in.

Yes definitely. You don't need to be catholic to go to a catholic college. You may not qualify for special scholarships or anything that are specifically for catholics, but the fact that you're non-catholic should not much affect your chances of getting in. There's most certainly no catholic test. I've never heard of such a thing and even most catholics would fail such a test anyway, the religion is complex with many rules and nuances.

In general Catholic colleges do not require that incoming students be Catholic to attend. The amount of religion at eachs chool varies once your there but there for the most part it won't impact your admissions.

No problem, both my daughters went to catholic schools because I liked the ethos. The head told me they have to admit a percentage of non catholics each year so I would imagine this applies to colleges too.
