Talk Radio and FOX news have exploited a perceived "liberal media bias" for several years, appealing to people who didn't feel that their side was properly represented.
Unfortunately, both Talk Radio and FOX are pretty superficial in their coverage. Talk radio is generally a monologue, with guest stars mostly limited to people who are willing to spend over thirty minutes on the phone waiting to be called upon. Fox, while having reporters and covered stories, is often personality driven, focusing on the stars of each show (Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, the "FOX and Friends" friends, etc.) And both are pretty vicious to those who disagree with them and their audiences.

What I find interesting is the different approaches that the opposing sides take to combat the bias and the perceived bias. Conservatives looked for and found a way to COMPETE with the the left-wing bias, to let the American people decide which side they would prefer to listen to. Liberals on the other hand, have set out to SHUT DOWN the conservative bias, leaving only their voice and their views. Liberals seem to want silence and compliance, rather than discourse and debate.

I think all newsnetworks are biased. People aren't programmed to be objective. We just have to take the news. Liberal news leans left and conservative leans to the right. Conservative radio is more widespread than liberal radio (since air america went bankrupt) so that's where "conservative media bias" comes from.

Fox News is News Corp owned by Rupert Murdoch. An Australian with a Chinese third wife. He is also a player with the Clinton franchise. As to the shill of politics it adds ratings points and $$$ he does not care about worthless party loyalties. But what I notice is that by using the shock jock approach we almost lose the momentum toward progress on either side. Just a shouting match. Now that the shoes on the other foot we become the "conservative" this or the vast right wing majority that. More labels in my book. What I do not like is hearing proposals on the Senate floor to reign in Talk Radio and limit internet access. #1 with a bullet the rookie NY Senator. Thanks.
edit OMG Spart got whacked 2day?! he was headed there for sure... lol I guess it happens :)
VOTE Walter Cronkite !!! Yeah team !

There was a void in the marketplace that begged to be filled. It started with radio because it was a less risky investment. Once the market was firmly established, it was easier to justify a conservative News station.

Liberal media bias was a foregone conclusion. The left has had domination of print and television media for 60+ years. After WWII there was the constant slide to the left in the media ... with no opposition, the leftist media was the status quo.
Then in the late 80s conservative talk took off like a rocket. There was finally a new voice to counter the leftists. Now with personalities such as Limbaugh, Hannity, Gibson,.Coulter and FoxNEWS being the only real source of conservative media, the left is understandably shaken. Their dominance is being threatened, so they have to strike back with accusations of "right wing conspiracy" and "right wing hate radio".
It is curious that with the decades of established leftist media bias, newspapers, and television production/distribution. The left has failed utterly to gain a significant foothold in radio. Air-America Radio was a disaster, left wing radio is only able to stay in business when the government subsidized their stations (NPR, PBS) When compared head-to-head with conservative radio, the left loses everytime.
So why is the left so fearful of one conservative TV channel and one segment of media which they do not control?

I don't know. I've always gotten my news from newspapers, an occasional magazine and not necessarily "talk" radio, but news radio. I've never liked TV news because all they are, are talking heads. But, in the cafeteria where I work they have a TV on the wall that plays FOX news all day, but we only see it if any lunch or on break, if we go in there at all. I work with an ultra lib who told me that she wants it to be on CNN so she's not fed right wing propaganda. And I said, as opposed to left wing propaganda on CNN. She said there was never any propaganda until FOX news came along. Then I asked her about ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, Headline New, etc. which all seem to lean more towards the left, and she that isn't true, it's a made-up lie by the right. So, I guess as a conservative, I'll continue to get my news the old fashioned way.

I believe that Fox is fair and balanced.
After all, that's why they have people like Geraldo, Alan Colmes, Lauren Swartz, and Greta on.
But of course, they still have a conservative slant to them, which is very good.
Why? Well, except for Fox News, all of the other TV news outlets are controlled by the liberals.
That's why I thank God for talk radio!
And the liberals don't like the fact that conservatives rule talk radio.
No, it's not a conservative monopoly.
It's just because the people choose to listen to those conservative talk radio stations over the liberal talk radio stations.
POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
And the liberals don't like that. That's why they wanted to/ still want to bring back the Fairness Doctrine.
They don't want the truth to be exposed.
They're also jealous.
So, after examining that, how can you proclaim that every single liberal supports the1st Amendment?
(You can't. HINT, HINT.)
That's just another example of how liberals can be communists.
However, I will say God Bless the liberals who don't support the Fairness Doctrine.

Mostly because the democrats own the big 3 media and CNN, CNBC.
SO they did not have anything to worry about, the American people would only know what they wanted them to know. So not they are threatened.
They believe in free speech as long as you agree with them.
