The obvious is the music from 2001 - but that is a bit passe.
My favorite is the soundtrack from Startrek Voyager. It shows a spaceship going through the rings of Saturn and 'taking off'. The music is spacey and I love it, its addictive. If you cannot find it, email me with your address - I think I can find an MP3. It only last 2.5 mins though.

I think the music of the 1951 movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still" is the most "science fictioney" sounding music I ever heard. Listen to free clips of the sound track at the source. Just click the "Listen to samples" link in the lower left. Then buy the CD if you like it.

Something less obvious than the Imperial March off of Star Wars would be The Diva Dance from The 5th Element Soundtrack. There are other songs from that album that may be good for what you are doing too. Check it out here.

Anything by Vangelis, composer of the "Blade runner" soundtrack, should do. Check out his compilation albums "Portraits" and "Themes". Tunes like "Pulstar" and "Himalaya" are all excellent.
