Sir Bernard Spilsbury (1877 - 1947) was the first important British forensic scientist, and he made forensics into a recognised science in court cases. Previously, it had been a black art where any so-called expert could contradict any other so-called expert.

In several ways, Spilsbury wasn't an ideal forensic scientist, but he was the first credible one.

Dr Michael Baden. He is a present day board certified forensic pathologist who frequently works with Police and is on television disclosing how his expertise led to the correct cause of death and if foul play was involved. Google him.
