My wife & I are fulltime RVer's and have been for over four years. We sold our house in Orlando, Florida on April 30, 2003 and haven't looked back.
At the moment we are on site preparing for the 2008 SEA/FMCA rally in Brooksville, FL. We hope this year will excede last years total motorhomes of 2,100. I am a retired licensed electrician and take care of their electrical work. Tomorrow I will mow about 25 acres. My jobs vary.
We did not plan on doing this when we retired, but our funds are limited. We have campground hosted for Florida state parks. Just like SEA/FMCA there's no money involved, just a free campsite.
We have chosen this area for a home base, we have a box at a local UPS store, that gives us a street address for insurances companies and banks. When we are traveling, we have the UPS store forward our mail to a spot we will be. We registered to vote in Hernando Country, they gave us the voter registration office as our voting address.
We bank with Sun Trust anthough I would prefer Bank of America since they are all over the US. We do all our credit cards via the internet. Our bills come into our e-mail and we pay from our checking account.
We have chosen a Medicare HMO and that has worked out for us. We just try to stay healthy and get a large supply of medicine before we head out on a trip.
By no means do we stay at one place for very long, we enjoy traveling too much. In 2005 we took a caravan to the Canadian Martimes. We went as far North as Red Bay Labrador. That's as far North as you can drive on the Eastern shore of North America.
Last year we drove from Brooksville, FL to Fairbanks, Alaska. We toured Alaska for five months, two months of the was parked at Cummins Norhtwest having a new diesel engine built. We learned a lot about Anchorage while there.
This year we stayed in Brooksville for the summer for medical reasons. We plan on leaving for Alaska in early April next year. This time we will spend more time parking at road stops and less campgrounds. Most all fuel stops have fresh water and dump facilities.
If you are like us, with limited funds, think about joining Workamper

Here you post your resume online and apply for jobs. We plan on working at a campground near Anchorage next year.
Florida is a good homebase state as is Texas. Florida tags for our motorhome are $46 per year. There's no income tax. If you stay in a campground that is in a tourist area there's and extra bed tax on top of the sales tax.
There are several insurance compaies that write for motorhomes. We bought our policy through Gilbert Insurance Agency in Orlando. Thet have reps at all the big RV shows. Our policy for the motorhome, along with fulltimers coverage is under $1,000 per year, and they write for a year unlike most companies.

If you plan on traveling a lot, you will want to join the FMCA, Family Motor Coach Association. The have a mail forwarding service rather than the expence of a box, somewhere. The Escapees have the same service with e-mail also.

Gee, Arthur & I have a lot in common! Even the same organizations!
The difference is that my husband & I have lived in a class A motorhome for the better part of 29 years!
We use the Escapees mail service in Livingston Texas as our primary address and the FMCA Cincinnatti address as a secondary. We are also "Workampers". A great way to go where you can sttay in one place for a while and stay for just a little work in exchange, and many actually pay you to stay at a campground and work. Gives you more time to explore the area without worrying about campground fees and GAS!
If I can answer anything more specifically feel free to contact me.
