...when they should have been concerned about the environment many many years ago. Ten years ago, not many people were making a big deal about the environment. Even when it was announced that the ozone layer was detetriorating, I don't think many people were concerned.

If they were concerned back then, why are they now?

PLEASE no smartypants answers. Thank you.

It's been made a political issue. That's why it's getting attention. I agree that we ( all countries ) should have done something, but we should have done something 20 years ago to take care of the rock we live on. We've only got one planet to live on and need to take care of it. It's our future at stake. We can be quite ignorant when it comes to the environment because alot of us think that it is something that takes care of itself. The attitude of it's nature, it's fine, it's always gonna be there...Well that is a dumb way to think and hopefully with the attention it's getting at the moment, soon the ball will actually get rolling on planning on our future. What shits me, is that it seems to be only getting attention because it's a political issue and vote grab. It shouldn't be made political.

There's always something that our society grabs onto that becomes the big issue. In the past it's been disease, poverty, etc. Right now it is the environment. I would say that in the end it has become the hot issue because of the celebrities who are supporting environmental change. Hopefully it brings about some change, though.

It's the nature of the human being to not heed warnings about anything until it becomes a BIG problem. Anything!!
