Everyone says leggings are classic and always will be in and tights were trendy and are out. I'm not asking if you guys agree with the above philosophy, but I just want to know what the difference is. For someone who wears jeans all the time, I'm clueless.

Pics would be very helpful... Thanks!

i actually have the opposite opinion. Leggings come and go. They were super popular in the 80s, then went away. And have been coming back in recent years. To me leggings are likepants. YOu can wear them as pants, wear them under skirts, whatever.

Tights on the other hand are more like panty hose. I love tights. I wear them in the winter since they are nice and warm. They aren't as thick as leggings, and I wouldn't be caught dead wearing them by themselves. Tights have always been in fashion since I was a kid in the 70s. I consider them an undergarment.

I believe leggins are more comfortable to wear and look better especially the shiny ones. If you have worn bike shorts then leggins are just the longer leg version and are probably more widely worn also.

Yes I am a guy too I do wear lots of spandex clothing

Tights are making a comeback, don't believe what they say. And I think they keep you warmer, yet I am still much a fan of leggings.

I think of tights as having feet and leggings as ending some where on the leg.

And I think that they are both super stylish

Tights go all the way down to your feet, and leggings only go to your ankles.

leggings are shorter and usually more thick than tights. they usually go up to around the ankle or calf.

tights are longer, thinner, and sometimes used for dance.
tights are also usually opaque or sheer.

tights cover your whole foot as well and your legs and butt, while leggings usually go down to right under your knee.
