My boyfriend's car's windshield is covered in cracks and for both a birthday and Christmas gift I'd like to either fix it or replace it. It has many cracks running across the top and some radiating from the rear-view mirror. I'm thinking I'm just going to replace it. Is it possible to replace something like that yourself or is it best to take it to a shop? I'm trying to find the most cost-effect way of doing this. If anyone can help me out, let me know. I desperately want to make this as cheap as I can.

Take it to a shop. It's not all that easy. BTW, it's also a moving violation to drive with a cracked windshiel.

Check your (his) insurance, first they may cover it. In Florida, insurance companies cover the replacements at no charge to the insured. It is best to have a company replace the windshield since it is a delicate process. Best of luck to you.

go in the phone book in the yellow pages. There are glass replacement companys that will come to your house and replace the windsheild for $150. I've done it twice, it's awesome!
