How could you get a nice infection on purpose?

PLEASE READ before you dismiss my question as nonsense.

I've got something going on with my foot that I'm considering trying to get it amputated. I know that most doctors won't just do this for you so in case I need to I was wondering:

Does anybody know how I might build up a good infection in my foot... one that would warrant an amputation?

I doubt just cutting it and rubbing it around in the dirt would do it... not the kind of infection I'm looking for.

I'll tell everybody what the problem is and you can judge me however you like:

Well see... I have tiny bumps on the bottom of my right foot that the doctor says looks like something in virus family... he says I can spread it to other parts of my body by touching them. He said it's like warts but different. He says that it will probably go away on its own (which could take years) OR I can get medication that would cost about 600.00 and there's NO guarantee that it won't come back. There's nothing else he can do.

I'm something of a germophobe and I just can't deal with it... I'd rather be dead. It's tearing me apart and I haven't eaten in days.

The only way out I can see is to just take the foot off. Seriously. Of course, I'd rather have it done professionaly... but I am willing to do what I have to. I took out our circular saw today and sanitized it. It would be much easier just to conveniently get an infection that would require amputation.

Don't know why you would want to cut your foot off but if you want to really screw it up leave out some chicken for a couple of days then cut your foot pour in the chicken"juice" wrap it up and you have terrible infection... Had a buddy that lost a perfectly good hand from a pallet from a splinter that had chicken stacked on it.

Doctors wouldn't want to amputate something on your foot because that would be going beyond what is needed. I suggest that you don't try to get an infection on your foot, but if you really need to get a bad infection on it you can do a few things.

Solder is mostly lead, lead is poison to the body (it is the stable version of uranium). It would give you an infection bad enough for amputation, but might be bad enough to kill you in big enough doses.

Rust could give you an infection if you havn't gotten shots for it, but they might just fight rust with the shots making the infection a mute point.

A saw blade would start the amputation process, just have a phone at hand and give the doctor no choice but to cut your foot off.

*note that an infection isn't a really strong reason for amputation.

It takes a lot to get an entire foot amputated. Right now I have a really bad infection in my toe. Antibiotics didn't work, and I've had it for almost 2 months. Even at that it won't get amputated. Why don't you consider talking with your doctor about this "something going on with your foot." I'm sure there are other things your doctor can do to cure it besides getting it amputated.

If you are really serious and you really need your foot amputated about the only way that a doctor will do it is under the advice of a psychologist. A doctor takes an oath that he will do no harm to a person/body. An infection can usually be cured. You need a foolproof backup such as a psychologist.pp

Unless you have some odd desire to be lame for the rest of your life, why not go to a podiatrist or some other doctor at the very least and get what is wrong fixed?????
If you are just dead set on getting your foot cut off, freeze the front half of it. Then wait for gangrene, and they will certainly remove the whole foot.
I can't imagine why anyone would desire that, and I'm almost sorry I told you, but good luck, and post this question in the psych section as well, because it sounds like you may need help..........not to be rude..but...dam....

Careful luv, been in wheelchair long time, now have had so many infections in legs and feet it is not funny. These days the Docs tend to look and recomend a cream, If your foot is to come off it will have to do it by itself. If you succeed in this silly thing you propose you will probably give yourself recurrent cellulitus and spend nights screaming in agony, then be told there is nothing they can do, then it will go away a while then come back worse than ever. Before you do such a thing think about it hard, then go and see a counsellor please, I am asking you not to give yourself even a fraction of the agony I get, please get mental help now!

You seriously need to discuss this urge with your physician. The urge to have this kind of thing done (amputations) is a documented mental issue, and your physician can help you with treatment. Looking for a way to infect any part of your body so that you can cut it off is not healthy.

If you've got some sort of fixation on having your foot amputated you really need to think it through. It'd be so awkward, not to mention the complications that could arise. It could even be fatal. Talk to someone about how you're feeling.

Why would you choose amputation over medical treatment to get it well and back to normal? Amputation is not definitive. You will forever have phantom pain, risk of infection of the amputation site, risking further amputations, etc.

I didn't just dismiss your question as nonsense -- I think it's absurd! Why would you want your foot amputated. If you, as you say, have something going on with it -- try to deal with it. Amputation seems pretty extreme.
