VOMITTING & NAUSEA :-
Nausea is the sensation of having an urge to vomit. Vomiting is forcing the contents of the stomach up through the esophagus and out of the mouth.
Vomiting is a forceful action accomplished by a fierce, downward contraction of the diaphragm. At the same time, the abdominal muscles tighten suddenly against a relaxed upper stomach with an open sphincter. The contents of the stomach are propelled up and out.
An amazing variety of stimuli can trigger vomiting, from migraines to kidney stones. Sometimes, just seeing someone else vomit will start you vomiting, in your body's effort to protect you from possible exposure to the same danger.
Causes of vomiting :-
Viral infections, Medications, Seasickness or motion sickness, Migraine headaches, Morning sickness during pregnancy, Food poisoning, Food allergies, Brain tumors,
Chemotherapy in cancer patients, Bulimia, Alcoholism

Did she eat the plastic too? She should be fine as long as she didn't eat the plastic (it can rip the digestive tract when she is passing it). She might vomit from the lip balm. If she starts acting weird, take her to the vet. Even if she ate the plastic, she can very well pass it through with no problem but you should contact a vet for advice. DO NOT induce vomitting- this often causes more problems than it fixes. Only a vet should do that.

If you are conscious and not seizing (like in epilepsy) just let it happen. In between bouts drink as much water or pedialyte (pedialyte is better- it has electrolytes you need as much as water and, unlike gatorade, no sugar which can further dehydrate you and cause more vomiting) to keep your body hydrated but otherwise just let it all out.
There is something in you your body needs to get out. This is your body getting it out.
If it goes on for more than 2-3 days go to a hospital. Too much vomiting and no amount of drinking water or pedialyte can keep you hydrated. You'll need an IV.
If the person is unconscious or seizing they need to be turned onto their sides, both head and body, and you'll need to call 911 for an ambulance. This is way more serious and needs emergency treatment no matter what.
PS: someone suggested nux vomica. No. So very much no. It is a poisonous plant that contains, among other chemicals, strychnine. Just no.

Are you asking when vomiting should be induced? If that's the question it is when something they have swallowed does not burn skin (never induce vomitting when they have swallowed household cleaners like draino).
Call a poison center and go to the hospital. If somebody has drunk way too much alcohol, inducing vomitting is a good idea as long as they don't choke!
Otherwise, if they're just barfing for normal reasons put a bucket under them or take them to the toilet. Don't lay them on their back or leave them alone.

Ginger ale was a common treatment for nausea. The problem is that most ginger ale no longer contains ginger.
Ginger is one of the world's best anti emetics (prevents nausea). If you can get to your health food store, get a real ginger brew (Ginger beer, ginger ale) or ginger capsules, if you think you can keep them down, or ginger in some other form. That should help.

a garbage can and a glass of water. especially if it's recurrent vomitting, even if you keep throwing up in between sips it will still absorb through your mucous membranes and replenish your lost fluids.

Very very small amounts of water, but not too much, as if you drink a bunch, it will trigger you to throw up..Also, gatoraid will help...There is a homeopathic called nux vomica that really helps too.
