I got C's in both of my accounting courses. They were the only C's in any business related course during my entire college career. Ironically, I received a solid A in finance the next year.

The best way to get through it is to score high on whatever areas you're strong in and do your best everywhere else. I did well with LIFO/FIFO and financial ratios, but sucked with journal entries and bond assessment.

You should only have to take two semesters (financial and marketing). The key is not to be discouraged. My accounting and economics courses had be worried, but I made it through the rest of my business classes just find.

I found out about a book titled "Accounting Demystified." I bought a copy just in case accounting ever comes up in my career. You might have a copy at your local library. Check it out and see if it helps.

One last thing, if you want an MBA or another masters in a business subject they will want at least a B in all undergraduate business classes including accounting.

I can't help you there as I don't know what school you are going to. In my case, I am a biology major and I liked my first accounting class enough to make accounting my second major. If you want a business degree and don't want to do so much accounting, then do something else. That way, you will only have to deal with Principles I and II. And if you really have trouble with the material, ask your accounting professor. (S)he is the one that will point you in the best direction to succeed in the class. Good luck to you.

If you really hate accounting change your major to marketing. Its in the business field but less accounting.
