How do you stop someone from using vop to harass and stalk you?What countries have good laws about stalking?

I am here,they are in europe.My family is harassed almost every day by someone using vop.The phone companies say they have their hands tied because the calls orginate in another country.We have changed phone numbers,e mails and even some names.Right now we seem to have little recourse as we cannot locate this person.What can we do?First it was just emails then the vop.I contacted a high offical in their country ,A viceroy ,who said to me they have no policing action.What steps can I take legally to track this person down and have them prosecuted?My friend says ask people like me,So,,,,,,if you have been there and done that, Please help.

I had a problem and I am in San Diego, California. Some one was calling me all the time stalking me. I call the phone company they used the traps and traces with the police department, even though the police got the number they couldn't do any thing. The police stated that because it was through another phone carrier they couldn't get the number and do any thing about it.

This person was breaking in to my answering machine and listening to my messages. I got another machine with a bigger code and he broke that as well and was back to listening to my messages. I was so ticked off that nothing could be done to help me. The only thing the police said was" have you changed your phone number?" To which I told them yes, and that he'd gotten the number again even with it unlisted.

I finally gave up on the answering machine and went through the telephone company and got their answering system, where I have to call another number to pick up my messages. There is no answering mach. for him to break into. I have my phone set to ring 2 times through them so that I don't have to have it ringing forever.

He can not tell if I'm home or not, even if I'm on the phone my phone still takes messages and does not give out a busy signal. So he has no way of knowing if I'm there or not. I have been a lot happier since I went to using this system. No more invasion of my privacy, via him listening to my messages. My first answering machine also had room monitor on it. I know that he found that out and was listening into my home to see if he could hear me. I was so freaked out when I realized that he was doing that. I felt so violated!

I later realized he was doing that when I would get a call and then there wouldn't be any thing happening and he was still on the phone for a long time. When he hung up there should have been a 1 indication that I had gotten a call, there was no 1 after he hung up. That was when I found out that the machine does not leave a number on the machine, when you check your messages or when the room monitor when you call your house from away. I was so freaked out!!

God bless you I know how hard this is for you to be having to go through. It just isn't fair when others treat you like that and can get away with it. All of us need better laws that are tougher on people such as this, the arm of the law needs to be able to be a lot longer to reach out and get them.

the other answer is excellent and the only thing I might add is to mark the email as spam and you won't have to bother with it, and if the guy is on the phone when he calls, I once heard of someone getting a screaming mechanism for self defense and holding it up to the mouthpiece when someone called to harass her and she broke the man's eardrum so that was the end of that but I don't know if that would work with vop
