I just got a soar throat today, and it's really bothering me. I'm not going to school Monday feeling like this, cause I hate that and it's hard to consentrate cause I have to constantly cough and blow my nose. Can I get rid of it in a day or two?

I just recently had this too. People everyday commonly go to the doctors for a soar throat. I usually drink warm drinks like coffe, hot coacoa, or tea. I would try herbal drinks the most. I also tried lemon juice (not lemonade). It may sting (alot) but it helps very much! Also, drinks with honey. Whatever you do, do not try vinegar, honey, and lemon juice at the same time. I tried it and almost puked! Gargle salt water or spray the #1 Doctor recommended Chloraseptic. This also burns but helps a ton!!! Hope I can help ^-^

Gargle with warm salt water; one teaspoon of salt in 8oz/1 Cup warm water. Gargle with ALL of it. Do that every two to three hours.

Take up to 800mg of Advil every 6 to 8 hours ~ it will reduce the swelling and alleviate pain. If the Advil isn't enough for pain, you can add two Tylenol every 4 to 6 hours.

You can take one or two Sudafed tablets to dry up your nose, but it might keep you awake at night so I tend to use Sudafed in the morning. You can take two 25mg Benadryl at night to dry up your nose and help you get sleep, since it does have a sedative effect you do not want to take Benadryl when you need to be alert.

I have bad allergies and get colds all the time - this it what works for me. Get to feeling better soon, okay?

Easing the pain of a sore throat
Take acetaminophen, ibuprofen or naproxen.
Gargle with warm salt water (1 teaspoon of salt per glass of water).
Suck on throat lozenges or hard candy.
Suck on flavored frozen desserts (such as Popsicles).
Use a humidifier in your bedroom or other rooms you spend lots of time in.
Drink lots of liquids.
