women on Welfare can have? If the Welfare system is used correctly and the people seek out jobs and get off the system it is fine. But, you also have a group of people who do not understand what the welfare system is for and continually have children to stay on it now that there is a two year limit for a lot of services. I actually know of young girls who had babies just for the free services and housing. I have met and talked with them trying to understand their reasonings.
But should a woman who has child after child simply to stay "on the system" be allowed to do so or should there be a limit set on the number of kids the state will afford services to?

Don't bash me, I understand there is a need for some people. But there has to be some type of something that prevents the system from being abused?

I agree...I was on welfare for my 1st child and that is why i waited past 7 years before i had another. I wanted to support my 2nd and not have the state do it!! totally agree with you!!! There should be a limit of just ONE child, you smarten up like i did and want to support the 2nd on your own, get on your feet before another is born!! I see these people having like 5 kids and are on welfare, that is just WRONG and STUPID on so many levels

That's a tricky question. It's really not for the women, it's for the children. I think no child should have to go hungry in this country. I know the knee-jerk reaction is "well, take away their kids". Sounds simple, but then we have a bunch of children in the foster care system and that is horrible for them. Not a lot of people want to take in older children, it's usually babies that people want.
Should we sterilize them or something to that nature or make them take birth control? Well, then we are going to a bad place with that as well. Makes me think of Nazi Germany. And even if we penalized them for having more children, then once again, we are hurting the child.

I totally get your point and would hope that a limit would stop women from abusing the system. However, it's really not fair to the children. They've already got one strike by being born into poverty, and I'd hate to see them suffer even more because of the mistakes their parent(s) make. It's frustrating to know that people abuse a system that should help people rather than hinder them, but anytime you bring kids into the equation, it changes how the game should be played.

as a tax payer, i think there should be a limit of two..any more than that, they are on their own.
i think there should be a time limit as to how long assistance should last too...get some of these generations after generations after generations off their butts and into the work force.
