They should but I don't believe they will. If the Yankees resign him now they lose the subsidy from the Texas Rangers who have been paying a portion of A-Rod's salary since he went to the Yankees. A-Rod opted out of his contract because he was not sure of the direction the Yankees were going and he knew he could make more money elsewhere.

The Yankees are so hypocritical and there fans too! For the better half of the last century they have built their championship teams by signing the best players from other teams, because the small teams couldn't match the money. Now that A-rod chose to opt out and seek bigger money, now the Yankees and their fans are offended!?
Either baseball is a business in which you are allowed to sell your skills for the most money or you aren't, which is it Yankee fan!?
As for what they will do for 3b look for Shelley or another prospect. The only other option would be if A-rod signs with the cubs (they are stupid enough to throw big money at the best non-clutch player in baseball history!) That would mean they would need to move Aramis Ramirez and Yankees would pounce on that I'd imagine!
Personally I don't care what the Yankees do so long as they don't get Lowell away from Boston!

The Yankees should get a new 3rd basemen. They should not back down from what they said. That just proves the Yankees can be fooled and that they have no spine. They also don't need to be ridin on his bat through the regular season. Then have to be let down in the ALDS like this yr. We will be better by not even gettin to the postseason, then not winning it all. Not too mention the Yankees "go young model" should be stuck too.

I don' think they should because he has already opted out of his contract, and when they got a-rod from the rangers, the rangers agreed to pay part of is contract as long as he didn't opt out. Also there is a issue about Yankee pride. I am a die hard Yankees fan and I think that if he is only in it for the money then I don't even want him. I think that this is also how the management feels.

The Yankees fired Joe Torre, it was reported that they offered him a new one-year contract, however, it was just a slap in the face. Arod is going to take a pay cut to play for him and the Dodgers (I guarantee it). The Yankees would be foolish to even try an negotiate. It would be waste of time.

Get a new third baseman. The Yankees have to keep their mind on making another run at a World Series. If A-Rod wants to leave, then let him.

ha ha very humorous. The Yankees does no longer do this in the event that they like to win. A-Rod is a huge baseball participant. there have been many gamers who've struggled in the postseason purely to have a great postseason in years following their undesirable preformances. Barry Bonds ought to no longer hit something in the postseason whilst he become with the Pirates. whilst the Giants went to the worldwide sequence he become the main important ingredient which guided them to the sequence.

No. No player is worth 30 million dollars. Even more, the Yankees have a complete All Star lineup and A-Rod 'aint mean nothing to them.
