try being an extra for a few films. lucky for you louisiana has been getting alot of recognition in hollywood, and directors are filming more and more movies there. also try to find a casting director there, and if they have a mailing list, then sign up for it so you'll be alerted when they need people for extra work.

Unfortunately, like so many naive youngsters, you have a misconception about commercials being a "small start." Commercials are actually the plums of the acting profession. A good national commercial can set you up for life. Therefore all speaking roles for commercials are done through agents.

The first thing you have to do to become an actor is get your parents to support the idea. They are going to have to consent to any professional work you do before you are 18.

There is no place where you can audition an suddenly be a star. Doesn't happen that way. You have to build a resume of experience and training and you have to have a look that so impresses an agent that they will represent you and find you auditions. It takes years to build that resume and the only thing that can shorten it is if you have a super-terrific look.

use Google and type in 'casting call Lousiana'. There are pages and pages of links to open casting calls, extras for shows or movies. If you really want to go this route, you wont let distance of a city hold you back, have someone take you out-save some money, offer up for gas. Take a bus...good luck, I mean, break a leg!!!
