how do you solve this??
(y+20)(x-2)=240
the problem is that cecily had originally suggested a price that was $2 lower for each item, but if the team had agreed to that price they would have had to sell 20 more pocket protecters to get the $240.
so how many pocket protecters did they actually sell and what was the price for each??

Multiply out the factors xy+20x-2y-40=240
Since xy=240, we have 20x-2y=40 or
10x-y=20. You can substitute in for either x or y from xy=240 to get the answer. y=40 and x=6
