In the show, they're from Springfield, which is actually a fictional place and they never reveal which Springfield it really is (since lots of states have a Springfield) or if it's really a state at all, if that's what you mean.
The Simpsons also came from the mind of Matt Groening and were featured in a short on The Tracy Ullman show,if that's more what you're looking for

Okay, I am so glad I found this question. Last night they showed the episode where Grandpa Simpson goes to get his driver's license. Well, there is a quick shot of Patty (or Selma...I forget which one works for the DMV) handing the license over in front of the camera. Using my PVR I paused the scene and played it frame by frame. The line that says where the town is reads:
SPRINGFIELD, KY
They are from Kentucky. This is also hinted to when they travel to Italy and Homer gives that little old Italian women the cup that says "Kentucky".

I believe it's the 138th Episode Spectacular that aired in the mid-90s that stated they were from Springfield, Kentucky. They said something like "this humble family from Springfield, Kentucky".
