I noticed a difference in my sons eyes after bout 5 weeks. They had changed from being dark blue to a browny colour. When he was 8 weeks they were dark brown. My daughters eyes took longer to change. They started of light blue an then chopped an changed between blue an greeny grey so i wasnt sure what colour they were going to be! Shes now 22 mnths old an has green eyes like her mummy!!!

We all thought my niece was going to have blue eyes then they gradually changed to gray, goldish looking, and finally to brown. I would say that we noticed the eyes started to change around 5 weeks then fully brown at 6 months. Might be different for all babies. Another story is, my best friend clearly has brown eyes in pictures of her being 2 years old, and now at 24 her eyes are a very pretty green that gets lighter and darker depending on the light.

the general concensus is by the time your baby is 6 months old he has his true eye colour although you can usually guess his colour way before this and its unlikely to change after this.

Q: When and why does a newborn’s eye color change? Mamabaehr, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
A: Babies’ eyes change from blue to their natural color by age three. In three years, the eyes produce and store enough brown pigment to take on their natural shade.
Before that, a baby’s eyes lack melanin in the stroma—much like blue-eyed people. Special stroma cells (called melanocytes) make melanin as the baby ages. We think that the amount and the distribution of melanin stored in these cells account for iris color.

The eventual color of your baby’s eyes therefore may change as his or her body begins to produce melanin - and this can take anything up to three years (although for most babies this change will occur from around 6 months of age to one year). Thus, babies who have blue eyes in the early months of their lives may end up having brown eyes as they get older (in fact, eye color in some people can change even in adulthood).

My daughters eyes were dark blue right up until she was ten months. She now has really dark chocolate orange eyes, had me worried for a while there though as we both are dark.
