My judgement on this issue is irrelevant, but I'd like to understand why some people choose to do this.

I've heard of couples who will get everything situated legally so that they share property rights, are able to legally answer for medical issues for their partner, etc.

IF a person goes to that amount of trouble, why NOT get married? I'm talking about a male/female long-term relationship, where they live together without getting married.

I'd like to hear from someone in this type of relationship that can explain so that I and others can understand the attraction to not getting married, but still to have everything legally binding between the two of you.

What is the reason NOT to get married in this case?

I would imagine that one valid reason would be religion. Perhaps parents approval plays such a significant part in the marriage of their child and holds a lot of bearing on whether or not they can get married. I do also know of most people who strongly believe that by getting married they lose their options and have locked the door and thrown away the key. So instead of just commiting to that person legally, they find loopholes around it. My mother's boss dated and lived with a guy for 18 years before she got married. Only reason why that took so long was because she was a busy-body and apparently so was he. I think everyone has their reasons and they're not all going to be the same or similar.

I grew to become 40 some years back and characteristic been single on condition that i grew to become into 34. that's a complicated element to do, fantastically in case you have infants. lots of biases available against single mothers and dads. As you become old, this is harder for effective. assembly somebody who's a high quality guy or woman is so uncommon, then you definitely query in case you are able to desire to furnish the comparable greatness which you notice in them. Your possibilities for assembly somebody shrink, you're working, you're looking after your infants, you're doing baseball, soccer, hockey, despite. communique seems to be like a huge subject for human beings now a days. Now, that being mentioned, i could particularly be single, than married and rather unhappy. I had a chum who grew to become into truly down on her marriage, yet found out that she truly grew to become into awaiting existence to be fireworks each and every of the time. whilst she found out merely being shield and content grew to become into solid sufficient. feels like she settled, yet i do no longer think of she did, she's being the realist.

The whole idea is sickening to me. I would never do that. That means that I can just walk out on that person and by law we are not a family, and in the end that is just tasteless!

I can tell you based only on my 7year relationship. alot has to do with the cost of the wedding and all the stress that comes along with it. and when your already living with your partner it seems like your already married. and i assume that religion has something to do with it also.

I think the thought of them actually commiting to someone for the rest of their lives scares them.
