hi there, I had a new-born daughter and I gave her the name of 'Elise'.
But I don't know which is the correct pronunciation. Some pronounced like [e leez] (e of education), some said is [a leez] (a of abc), some said is [i leez] (i of elite).
But which one?

Correction: "had" should be "have".

Nope, all wrong. It's pronounced eh-LEASE. The capitalized part is where the accent is. The S is pronounced like the S in snake, not a Z. eh-LEASE. Even if you said uh-LEASE, no one would notice. But definitely do not say ee-LEASE or ay-LEASE. Those are wrong.

I would also pronounce it uh-lees but you can just correct people. My son's name is pronounced incorrectly all the time which is annoying (there's no e at the end why the long o!) but we just correct people and it's not a huge deal. His name is Jarom but pronounced as you would Jeremy minus the y sound at the end. We love the name and the spelling (it's not made up either we wanted to keep it the same as it was where we originally came across it), and I have corrected people on how to spel my name my whole life and I still love my name. Correcting pronunciation is easier than spelling I think :) Elise is a beautiful name, congrats on you baby girl!

I would pronounce it El-eece, but you can correct the pronunciation until the important people have it right. You'll never get everyone on the same page but as long as the people that matter get it... Love the name by the way, very pretty... and I don't give out compliments on people's choice of names very often!

I have a friend named Elise and she pronounces it "Uh-lease," like I got a lease for my apartment. It's a very pretty name, congratulations!

I have heard it pronounced as E- Lease or Uh-lease. I personally like Uh-lease better.
By the way- why would you name you child a name you didn't know how to pronounce?

Unless the parents are German (e-LEEZ-u ... the ending "e" is pronounced), e-LEES is the only form I've heard used in real life. None of those you've mentioned.
But if she's already named, exactly what have YOU been calling her? Perhaps I misread. LOL
