I agree mostly with Seth D...
USA is very big and diverse...I live in Chicago and many people think Chicago is the best place in the world...To me I can't stand it...Visit different states and pick yourself what you enjoy the most...I can't tell you where to go, beacuse USA is completly different than any country in Europe...

This of course depends greatly on what type of environment you would like to live in. Do bear in mind that the United States is a geographically large country with a certain degree of regional variation between the east coast, south, midwest, west, southwest, and west coast areas, as well as some variety between its rural and urban areas.
Can you give any details as to your personal preferences? What sort of climate do you prefer? Do you prefer small towns, large cities, or suburban life? Do you prefer areas that are more culturally and politically conservative or liberal?
As a midwesterner, I admit that our region of the country may not have the same reputation for "excitement" as perhaps the east and west coast, but it sincerely does have many places that feature a very wholesome and high quality of life. My home state of Minnesota is recognized for its high standard of living, high quality health care, high quality education, and low pollution. The state's Twin Cities metropolitan area is a moderate sized urban area that has alot of cultural offerings in terms of art, theatre, music, and museums, and the state is known for its many natural parks and outdoor activities.
If I were giving this advice to a young single person, I would have to admit they would could probably seek more adventure "living it up" somewhere in a big name city like New York or Los Angeles. However, if you are family oriented (which you seem to be) and want a more well-rounded experience here in the United States, you would do well to consider other areas as well. Do some Yahoo or Google searches about Minnesota and quality of life or places to raise a family and you will find some rather insightful information....

The US is quite diverse. Personally, I'd move to Virginia, near Charlottesville or Richmond.
