The new community moderation has virtually elimated false reports. I understood the reason before the update, false reports were a problem for some members. You can always appeal a violation. I've seen the appeals board and process in action. It is functioning now. Reporters who make a false reports have no influence over removal of content. It's great.
When I see a completely private profile I assume they are points gaming or doing something else wrong. I know it's not always true, but in my opinion it's better to have them open for people to learn from your answers and star and answer your questions. people are also much more likely to add you as a contact. I understood before, but now I think it's safe to come out. I've never had mine private and have never had any issues.
Great question today.

Sometimes people will get a fixiation with a YA user and go around stalking them, reporting all of their questions and answers and giving thumbs down.
So to avoid all of that the best thing to do is not have a fan list and make Q&A private.

nicely, it is private for cover motives. First, a man or woman can music you down by using clicking your profile and verify for any open questions. once you're making them private, then the guy can no longer persist with you. 2nd, if somebody which you be attentive to makes use of yahoo solutions and you're asking questions that don't % them to be attentive to, then lead them to private and that they won't have the means to examine the questions.

1. trolls go through them and get them removed and/ or hit
violations
2. stalkers go through them and you will see some of your
questions asked by others at different hours.
3. People who see the info think they might know you
I don't like the hidden info either but understand it and had to
shut out a few for numerous reasons.
Its too bad we feel this way but too many good people have been kicked off of here and so we try out some of these things.

Some people have stalkers who thumbs down all their answers. Or report them all the time. I had someone follow me for a while once. I guess he got bored with me, because he moved on.

Trolls who go through your questions and report them. Lots of people on here have lost their accounts due to people constantly reporting them for nothing.

Because if people get on your case they can go thru your questions and violate them for you. Some people were getting suspended more because of that very thing. It is very sad that we have to block them. I would much prefer to leave them open for all to view.

I was also wondering about it, maybe it's there way to protect themselves from trolls, they're a bit scared to be reported and get their account closed.
