I assume it is a 700R4 automatic. that is an overdrive
Does it move at all ?
Does it make a whining noise or chatter ?
Does it go into reverse ?
Does it go into low ?
Does the trans fluid smell burnt and black or dark ?
Was it hotroded when it quit ?

The govoner located on the pass.side of the trans.Probably worn to the point of not working smoothly to allow it to shift.A '94 isn't computer controled,so your problem ain't there.
