Yes. My entire family does. We have our thanksgiving late in the afternoon/early evening so we can help those who don't have a chance to enjoy a family meal. I also make 20 pies each year to take with me for them to serve so the homeless get a real homemade treat!!!
We should all be thankful for all we have and that we do have a way to celebrate in safe and secure environments.
Helping first and then enjoying dinner at home later makes the day even more rewarding!!!

My women's group at church work with other churches in our area in serving meals to elderly, shut ins, homeless or anyone who needs a home cooked meal during the holiday. It is a lot of work but when there are so many people working together it is not too difficult.
Peace.

I used to actually. I worked for a domestic abuse shelter so if I was there on Thanksgiving throwing a party I went to I think it was called Christ's Table and helped out. I really enjoyed it.

I started to volunteer this year, but I get 2 days off for Thanksgiving and 2 for Christmas, I think, like previous years, I'll mostly sleep through them...

I did for 10 of 15 years in the Navy... I would take the watch or duty for friends /shipmates who were married, or I was deployed and flying
There were also a few years where I had my Students over for Turkey-Day.

love doing this-what a great way to give back to the community and help others at this time of year. Isn't giving really what it's all about. Make it a family event -

Google or your phone book or your church might be good resources. Look for soup kitchens as well as homeless shelters.

I have the last two years on the day before. I think I shall do it this year, because I have no where else to go.
