Under communist rule, there is no freedom of speech. A rather obvious point, which hasn't been explicitly mentioned on here. There is also no right to material wealth, for example; no books, music, movies or posessions (unless they're made or approved by the state of course). Futhermore, the concept of "I" and "me" is banned in places like North Korea. In China, when you go to the barbers or hairdressers, you can only choose from the state-approved styles, not your own.
So, to the guy above using the name TroubleMaker, if you still think communism is a better deal, why not go and subjugate yourself to North Korea or China? Just remember, you won't have the freedom to tell us what you think.

Com munism also known as authoritarian socialism basically means that the government owns and controls all assets. In theory everyone is equally well off but in reality, most people are equally poor while a small ruling class is well above. The average Joes all recieve the same compensation no matter how hard they work, how ingenious they are or how lazy- of course lazy might get you the gulag. The press is also government run and controlled

Communism is a centrally planned economy, planned by the government. Everyone is given the same amount of money for whatever jobs they do and provided for in the same way (at least in theory). There is no religion, everyone works for the greater good of the whole?? There is no private property, everything is owned by the state, your home factories whatever. Its the opposite of fascism, which is corporate control of the government and everything else.

Communism is the idea that we all share equally in the resources of the land . Its impossible to do because we have greedy people who feel they are worth more then others . Communism evolved into Capitalism because there was a time when people could move to un-inhabited land away from others and care for themselves in a small community .
This only lasted till an army would come through and take away the livestock and crops from the people . And if they fancyed a painting or silver candlestick it was also taken .
So people formed communities where they armed themselves and built walls to store goods in . They had people watch over those goods and lived scattered about the safety of the walled city . They traded with other communities and messengers would alert if soldiers came warning everyone to head for the safety of the walls bringing with them what they could carry knowing they had stocked up on supplies in the city .
The people in the city grew fat and lazy and began to hoard the goods of those who produced them in the country side .
The soldiers who protected the city became fat drunk lazy pigs who after a time the people began to resent . But it was to late . They had control over the city and were armed heavily to defend it .
They then began to exact a toll on the people in the country side for being around to protect them and soon governments where begun .
The first Capitalists had crawled out from under the rocks of the city piled high and demanded from the people that they continue to supply them with food and materials to enlarge the city . A leader was needed and so the first politicians where created . They must work closely with the soldiers because if it were not for them who would force the people to pay up .
Anyhow people all started out as communists and it is only the greed of others that causes it to fail time after time after time . What the people need is a weapon so powerful that no one would abuse them anymore .
I like the concept of communism much better then Capitalism .

Basically it means everything is supposedly for the common good. Rather than free enterprise where it is up to the individual to be successful or not, the government controls all resources and distributes them equally amongst everyone. It almost sounds like a good idea on the surface, but in reality what you end up with is that everyone becomes underprivileged while the government leaders live in luxury.
