We won that war in a couple of weeks. We are fighting literal terrorists that are fighting to destabilize the country to seize power for themselves. The Iraqi gvt is on our side. We are training the Iraqi military and police. We arent fighting the Iraqis, yet so many people on here keep making comments like we are occupying their country or killing Iraqis. The terrorists are blowing up the Iraqis to grab power. We know for a fact that Iran is funding many of these terrorists. The Iraqi gvt has asked us not to leave Iraq at this time.

Do you really find it in the US best interest to leave the country now so that these terrorists organizations, heavily funded and influenced by Iran, can take control over Iraq? How can that possibly be in the best national security interest of the US?

Regardless of whether or not you agreed with this war we are there and have to deal with the reality of the situation as it stands now. Do you really want to hand the country over to Iran?

When did I ever say the US hasnt killed a single Iraqi civilian? Civilians get hit in the crossfire of any war, sad but a reality.
That still has nothing to do with the point of my question.

If you cant seperate targeting and blowing up the iraqis, which is only what the terrorists are doing right now, and random accidently civilian deaths during combat, then I cant even begin to have a rational debate.,
You are splitting hairs on purpose because you cant seem to address the actual question at hand.

majority of people that would actually dare to use the term liberal on themselves have advocated in poll after poll the complete withdrawel of Iraq immediately so I think the labels are fair. Generalizations can be accurate.

JP it isnt spin, It is reality. You think we are draining billions of our dollars in Iraq just to make a few million in business right now? Businesses making money off the Iraq war are because our gvt is shelling out that money. So we are in war to help businesses that we are paying out of our own pockets, hmmm.
We havent made any money off this war. It would take a long time to profit off any business we might "install" there, esp when you add up what we have spent.
Are you ignoring the Iranian influence when it comes to terrorism in Iraq?

There are certain elements in this country that are simply anti-war - regardless of the provocation or consequences. They seem to be well funded and very vocal and, unfortunately, they seem to have garnered quite a following among the liberals.
I'm sick and tired of hearing rhetoric that blames our military for what is clearly the actions of the terrorists. It seems that they will say anything to get a Democrat in the Whitehouse - it is clearly very difficult for them to initiate their socialist proposals when there is a Republican on Capital Hill.
Perhaps they should rethink their agenda and maybe start to consider what might be best for America and not be so intent on what might be best for their party.

Why not? Let them have the issue. In fact, let them have whatever they want. 'Taking over' isn't as easy as it sounds. 'Taking over' means taking over responsibility for all kind of hassles...not to mention dealing with armed resistance. The Iranians have worse leadership than we do, and that's saying something. Basically they're not competent to run their own country, much less another country. Believe me....once Iran gets what it wants the last thing it's going to need is terrorists....the first thing it's going to want is stability...which it won't get unless it grows up and starts to act in a responsible manner. The US needs to get totally out of the middle east and stop importing oil from there. Oil is what funds terrorism...giving them money for a product we don't need simply makes the problem worse. We could cut down our fuel consumption to the point where we don't need to import that much oil..we could go for 21st century technology to cover our needs....If Iran becomes a problem we still have a fleet of ballistic missile submarines that can do in everything important above ground and for 100 meters below ground...the Iranians know this...besides...what's wrong with beginning some kind of relationship with these people that stops way short of war? 'Ya know...give peace a chance! I submit to you that the Bush Junta, via it's Ministry of Propaganda..the right wing radio talk show and FOX has totally muddied the water about Iran, Iraq, the middle east in general and a host of other things. If you believe these guys then God bless you, but 99% of it is BS. We're in the middle east for oil we don't need and the people in the middle east don't want our western influence...if we leave we're both better off and if we leave and they don't behave we can easily deal with that. Think outside the Bush box....then we can deal with reality!

The insurgents are Iraqis. The country has been opened up to foreign terrorists by Bush's invasion. We are trying to get some of the Sunni insurgents to fight Al Qaeda, both Iraqi and foreign, by giving them arms. That is not going to end well.

How long does it take to train Iraqi military and police? This is odd that it's taking so long because military service was mandatory for Iraqi men under Saddam.

Don't you realize that we can't trust Iraqi troops because the invasion unleashed a sectarian war. We give arms to Shiia police, for instance, and they use them against Sunnis and even other Shiite groups. Iraq is a mess and if you took the time to study its culture, history and what is actually going on today you would realize what a disaster Bush has caused.

If our country was invaded and occupied by a foreign regime, many of us--Republicans, Democrats, Independents, or even those illegal immigrants-- would organize or join resistence movements to repel the invaders. Would you call them, our patriotic and unselfish, Americans, "terrorists", also?

Among the 9-11 attackers, how many were Iraqis and how many were Saudis?

I do agree that we can't and shouldn't leave Iraq now but because of the crime and mess we have created there to those innocent people. We are morally responsible to stablize the country. However, I am not sure how long and how much it would take?

If you believe what comes around goes around, what do you think would happen to those in the Bush administration who were involved in crafting this invasion?

They dont seem to understand this at all but honestly, they never will. Another poster just asked a question about whether we are ok with 4 Americans/Polish soldiers getting killed today, blaming the US for this rather than the radical Islamists who have been slaughtering people for decades in the Middle East, Africa, Southern Asia, the Pacific and of course here on 9/11.

I know if you do a little more research that you'll find that the majority of the Sunni insurgents that are currently fighting the US in Iraq are from Saudi Arabia, not from Iran. Iran may well be supplying arms to the insurgents but the bodies on the ground are Saudi. So maybe we should threaten to invade Saudi Arabia?

Pure Spin 100%. We have installed a business friendly government, that is dependant on our troops and money. corruption is universal, the people of Iraq are the losers and the American people as well, the rest is spin don't waste time trying to explain what you have no understanding of ( geo politics) little of what is said has real bearing on the truth, the Gap between what is said and what is done is a chasm.

The U.S. is fighting terrorists but killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. Their aim seems to be a little off.

the undemanding answer on your query is that liberals, like conservatives, have their very very own political time table, to boot as their very very own aspects to help that time table. maximum reported human beings probable wont argue with you that there have been some Al Qaeda operatives working in Iraq till now we toppled Hussein's regime, despite if that's complicated for some human beings to reconcile the incompatibility of Saddams government and the religious extremists that are at the back of Al Qaeda with the thought they have been helping one yet another, merely as its complicated for some conservatives to have self assurance that there grew to become into as quickly as a time whilst Saddam Hussein grew to become into the U.S. governments superb chum against Iran and that we've been imparting him with hands to combat our battles with us, something that's additionally a documented fact yet no longer in many circumstances stated on the O'Reilly rfile. it quite relies upon on who you're listening to.
