i want to get a new car but i don't want major car repair bills while i'm still making payments.so i figure the first 5 years with me only putting around 20,000 miles a year on it , i should be able to pay it off before having major car repair bills.

Repairs are only covered for the length of time of your warranty. Most warranties today are 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. On the cars with longer warranties, those are usually only for powertrain related problems like engine or transmission. They do not cover anything electrical, computer, brakes, etc.

If you want bumper to bumper coverage, you will have to buy an extended warranty when you buy the car.

The other answerer was incorrect when they said Chrysler offers a 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty. In 2007, in order to attract more new car buyers, Chrysler started offering lifetime warranties on the drive-trains of all new vehicle purchases. Chevrolet, GM offers 10 yrs. 100,000 mile warranties. Some dealerships include "routine maintenance" in their coverage such as oil changes and brake replacement. With a quick phone call to local dealerships, you should be able to get all the information you need to make a sound decision.

Chrysler has a 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty now like Hyundai and Kia. But those cars may need better warranties because they have more problems on some models. The best "bumper to bumper" warranty your talking about that covers anything that goes wrong (except normal wear items like brakes) is maybe 5 years and 50,000 miles if your lucky.
