Bush has given himself extraordinary powers. He has passed the Patriot Act and believes he can declare War without Congressional approval, without anyone's approval. He has claimed the right to wiretap citizens without warrants...all in the name of terror. The possibility of terrorist attacks will remain with us for centuries. The danger of not impeaching both Bush and Cheney and stripping them of these Constitutionally Illegal powers is that the next President may claim them for him or herself, thus ignoring the Constitution to make the Executive Branch one that is above reproach, with no Congressional Oversight. Despite investigations, Bush has evaded giving documents, e-mails or answers. The next President may cling to this same imperial secrecy. The question is, should U.S. citizens insist upon Impeachment and the removal of all imperial powers that Bush and Cheney have claimed as their own, lest the next president follow their path?

Neither House or Senate are going to pass a resolution to impreach Bush and Cheney. Not going to happen. So think and chose carefully who the next President is going to be. Ask those questions that concern you. Think. Act rationally and don't be swayed by fear which is really how Bush got reelected. Don't sit on your hands and do nothing. Vote for who will come closest to meeting your concerns.

My oh my, if we can attempt to impeach on such frivolous grounds as calling for war with out congressional approval (this has been done since WW2 btw) every war time president since should be impeached.

READ: The Constitution, Article II, Section 4:
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Impeachment should be reserved for the most serious and egregious misues of executive power, Mr. Bush is hardly a candidate for impeachment. I as a Republican didnt think CLinton was a viable candidate for impeachment either. Legitimate Impeachment grounds are very rare and shouldnt be merely exercised as a political tool like most libs want it to be used. Calling for impeachment becuase you dont agree with a foriegn policy decision is silly, and weakens the office of the Presidency and all those that will have that power in future years.

First, you're assuming they're going to be impeached, which they maximum in all probability is merely no longer. and in spite of the actuality that in the journey that they are, that does no longer advise they're going to be removed from workplace. remember, Nixon did not go away workplace because he changed into impeached. He voluntarily resigned. President Clinton changed into impeached yet did not go away workplace. in spite of the indisputable fact that, Nancy Pelosi is next in line of succession. yet, if Cheney is impeached and leaves workplace before Bush, then Bush can employ a clean vice chairman (like Nixon did with Ford after Agnew resigned.). Then that human being would bypass on to be President if Bush would go away workplace. And, if Bush would go away workplace before Cheney, then Cheney would grow to be President and be able to nominate a clean vice chairman. Then if Cheney would renounce, that human being will be President, so the liklihood of Pelosi really being President is extremely, very narrow.

*sigh* Congress passed the Patriot Act and authorized the use of force in Iraq. How hard is that to understand? Bush and Cheney won't be impeached and they didn't "give" themselves any power. The Constitution and Congress did. Maybe you should seek professional help, paranoia is a mental disease and shouldn't be ignored.

You are so right! Dennis Kucinich is trying to accomplish that with Cheney now & if he succeeds, Bush will be next in line. Let's hope he will be able to pull it off before it's too late...

Your rant is filled with falsehoods. Take declaring war without congressional approval for instance...Thank Hillary and company for that?

They will declare Bush and Cheney enemy combatants and send them to gitmo, along with the rest of the republican party. Oh, how much regret will be tasted by the fools that instilled so much power in one branch of the government. I guess stupidity comes quickly, while reason takes time!

Uh, hon...

Let's back up for a moment OK?

POTUS has the ABSOLUTE AUTHORITY to start a war, he then needs to go to congress for the funds for it.

Regarding the much overused term "wire-tapping", please give me a list of the names of people (that is US citizens) who are complaining about this and feel their "rights" have been violated.

BTW, your boy Slick Willie did his share of "wire-tapping" as well, but that's OK isn't it?

So, my little plum blossom, instead of just spouting off talking points about abuse of powers, try to really come up with one.

I'll wait.

Anything?

Thought so.

i havent seen this much fanciful poltical philosophy since carlos castaneda wrote his books heavily induced with cannabis. do you think for one second that the pelosi/reid regime would hesistate to prosecute bush if any impeachable behavior exists...cmon
NONE DOES
grow up
get over it
bush has given nothing to himself. your 11 percent congress has voted any additional powers the president has and prior to this clinton had the same and did a disastrous job with them. the next president will simply continue to clean up the al qaeda mess clinton ignored for eight years.
it would help loads if you knew what you were talking about before you did your next post. you would save WORKING americans alot of time. thanks.
