We should get something, don't you think? Do you think it's right that Black people did all the work while white people had parties?

Only stupid black folks don't care about reparations. They jews were paid and that didn't even happen in the US. By not paying reparations, we are letting white people off the hook, for yearrrrrrs of oppression. That's just a slick way of white folks forgetting about slavery. But they'll hold us using the N-word over our heads.

How is reparations a "handout", if any thing it would be a reimbursement. We worked. A handout is something you give freely.

I don' think black people should. Can you really prove that your ancestors were slaves? I could lie and say mine are even though I'm second generation of immigrants. Do you really need reparations either? 40 acres and a mule. What would that add up to now. Do you really need 40 acres and a mule? What about other people who's ancestors suffered at the hands of cruel oppressors, don't they deserve reparations too? Or will you complain that they will be getting more than black people? No I don't think it's right that black people had to do all the work. But Africans weren't the only types of slaves. Native Americans were slaves for a while too. Poor Europeans were ever indentured servants. (Not the same thing but its the same concept) Why do you think we should? Our..well some black people's ancestors had to suffer but those ancestors are long gone. So are those oppressive days so why do we need the money? Plus with the huge debt in this country do you think the first thing the government would do with leftover money is give it out to 4 million black people? If you do, then you are one ignorant person. Oh and just because I don't agree with you doesn't make me stupid it makes me logical.

reparations would become a bigger issue if enough people cause a stir, using the media and every form of communication available, jews, germans and others have gotten reparations why not the black people. power in numbers yall. ask for what is rightfully yours. you can keep working if you want to, and keep on not asking anyone for a handout, this would not be considered a handout in my book, this is a debt.

Don't get this started -- the way the government works the blacks would owe for their ancestors room and board and whatever else. Just the paperwork and legal system would eat up any gains for reparations and have us all so deeply in debt to pay it off that we'd never get out. Leave it alone.

I agree that reparations should have been paid to blacks after slavery began(unfortunately it didn't happen), but the time has passed and most of the black people who should've been repayed are dead. I don't think its valid to give large amounts of reparations to the descendants of slaves because they never were actually oppressed themselves. And besides, Blacks still do get affirmative action to help them get jobs and get into colleges.

The ones who were sold by their chiefs and kings in Africa made out far better than the ones who had to face starvation , disease , wild animals , and neglect .
Slaves were expensive and well pampered by their owners . Naturally , we hear about the very few who mistreated their slaves . That's what makes good movies and stories .
Also , Who can show proof of their great great grandparents being slaves . Many blacks were free , some even had slaves of their own .
Many blacks came to America after slavery . Many came from the West Indies . Should the American citizen pay their great great grandchildren , when they weren't even in America at the time ?
The American government never owned slaves . They were all privately owned. Go after the plantation owners . Get all your proof of the exact amount of labor that your ancestor had coming. Deduct the cost of food and lodging , and present the bill to the owners of the plantation where your ancestor worked.

Understand that reparation is just another form of enslavement. The more you give a person, the more that person relies on the giving and the less they are motivated to get things for themselves. Look at what is happening with the welfare state - people unwilling to build their self-respect by going to work because they don't have to. Instead they sell their self-respect to those who give them money.

Believe me, you ALWAYS pay for a hand-out - whether it is deserved or not, and nothing is ever free. Trust me, you do not want reparations.

When native americans get their land back. I look at it this way, every race has suffered at some point in time here in america, The natives were the first slaves, working the sugar plantations, they had to deal with wide spread genocide and sicknesses at the hands of europeans, their women were raped just like black women were. Asians were first brought here to build the railroad systems and they had to deal with lynchings and other harsh treatments just like blacks, especially after pearl harbor where they put all asians in concentration style camps here in america. Even whites had their share of violence and strugle, in fact the second group to be lynched the most in the south after blacks were whites who were catholic (the KKK hated catholics), jewish people, and whites seen consorting with black people and I can't forget about sharecropers who were basically white slaves. So no, reparations should not be given out to one group and then completely ignore other groups who had it just as bad.

I'm white. But I'm very proud of black people for their reactions to this question. It is obvious that only lazy people would take money from the misfortune of their great great great great grandparents. The slaves that existed in the 1800's would want their descendants to have to ability to work for their money and earn it fair and square, not take it from the government.

What are you talking about...parties. I have worked since I was 15 and never ever ever took any handouts or looked for, as you say, reparations.

I was a single parent, due to my wife passing, and raised two young boys. One is now graduating from medical school and the other is a Navy pilot. We, the three of us, did it on our own and will never look for any handouts or help.

Oh and by the way, the next time a natural disaster hits, I'll make sure I steal a wide-screen TV to eat. (Sans New Orleans and hurricane Katrina.)

Oh yes...I'm WHITE!!!

I really don't think anyone owes anyone anything. And no, I am not stupid for disagreeing with you. Stupid is wanting something you, yourself, obviously didn't earn. Every nation has a history. It's important that you move on and forgive because this mentality will get you nowhere.
