Granny ( old sounding)

Grandmother (formal)

Mawmaw

Mama (first a is long, as in a for apple)

Nanny

Ma

Or, find out what the paternal grandmother is going to be called. And pick something different. Or have first or last name in the title. For example: Grandma Betty or Granma Smith or Nana Mary. You could also wait and let the child choose when it begins talking.

My boys call mu Mom and Dad- Nana and Peeah (Pee- aw) cause it just came out that way... But my husband calls his grandma G.G. for ( What a Great Grandma) and I love that! So you could do G.G. and Pop. I love Pop!

Meme (memere) or Noni.

What is your ethnic background, then find a sweet name that is connected with it. Most backgrounds have a couple of names for grandma and some cute derives.

My nephew calls his Gran, E-Ma. He had trouble saying Grandma when he was small. He's 10 now and the name stuck. Perhaps your little boy will come up with his own term of endearment for his Gran.

We have used Granny, and my friends use the first letter of the persons name at the beginning like if grandma's name is Jane then she would be called Jma and if grandpa's name is Cal then he would be Cpa (saying the first letter not the sound of it. with ma or pa) I like this and think it is cute.

I call my mother mom. Why would you call your mother grandma?
If you just had the baby, maybe you could call your mother the same thing the baby probably does: GOOOO!

i went through the same thing, and came to the conclusion a baby will call his/her grandparents whatever they want. no matter what they want to be called. so let your baby decide when its old enough.
